Are Erkin and Ansaldi really clowns compared to Telles? Ansaldi and Telles cost about the same, though we put Laxalt in Ansaldi deal for a pretty good value, for almost 6m€ (which we wouldn't have been able to do with Telles deal).

Problem is erkin is really offensive and he is terrible at defending, ansaldi is better defensively but at the same time both of them would be subs for other starters. Sure getting rid of laxalt and getting ansaldi is not bad but unlike ansaldi telles is young with the right coach he can totally improve and become a good Lb and that is what de boer is in the habit of doing. Also our fullback situation is still bad because even if ansaldi or erkin are injured look at the subs injured santon, brainless nagatomo and di ambrosio each one is worst that the other.

Pretty hard to say if Erkin and Ansaldi are better than Telles given the little playing time they had so far.

But Telles's quality is known from last season, there's more of a guarantee with buying him over this summer.

Clearly our finance isn't up for it, or else we would have done it. Although, Mancini strangely benched him for a long long period after a good series of performance in the first half of last season, so it's hard to tell really.

Speaking of fullbacks, am I the only one who thinks we also need to sign another quality fullback? Whether a rightback or leftback, or both. The fact that Ansaldi and Erkin are still unknown whether they're good enough or not, and if they get injured we'll have to use the usual average Nagatomo and D'Ambrosio.

in a proper team ansaldi and erkin would both be subs not starters but yeah as I said the fullback situation is worrying me they all suck the most balanced one in them is ansaldi and erkin is too offensive and nagatomo and di ambrosio along with santon no comment.

Yes, we need a quality fullback, but the trouble is that we keep buying mediocre ones. It would have been so much better if Inter had bought just 1 quality FB rather than 2 mediocre ones every fucking summer.

Now we have 6 of them on our wage bill - Erkin, Ansaldi, Nagatomo, D'Ambro, Santon, Dodo. We need to first sell 2-3 of them before we can buy.

Btw, I love the Tete rumours. I hope they are true. Thats the kind of FB we should be buying.

the season isn't even started yet some people around here have targeted some players to be their kind of scapegoat already :palm:
i will reserve my judgement on new players until they had at least a 10 or so games in them

You have to remember that players can look way different under certain coaches. Roma's defense looks much better under Spalletti and I assume Juan will improve dramatically in Rome. At the same time, it could be the case in Inter for certain players.

D'ambrosio isn't a bad player. He defends well and often crosses decently with his right foot. In a more organized team he could look a lot better. Look how De Schilio looked at the Euro 2016, where he looks awful in Milan.

He also has good positioning in opposition's penalty area. As far as remember he scored few goals that way. He also outplayed totaly Insigne in both games against Napoli.
I think that some people too hasty have claimed Erkin as a clown. In proper system he might be useful player.

Indeed, about both of the players.

Erkin hasn't made an official minute with us and we already giving him a verdict. Give the boy a break.

Simone Padoin was an integral player for Conte's and Allegri's Juventus for the past few years. If he played for Inter everyone here would send him the Serie C.

No he wasn't.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree.

Indeed he wasn't as important as their 3 CB (and Buffon), but he played 84 games, and could play as CM, RW, RM and has discipline and tactical abilities. Nothing fancy but he did what the coach told him.

Exactly was D'ambrosio can be for us.

the problem is di ambrosio is really defensive and erkin is too offensive we have only ansaldi who is a balanced so that means we need atleast one proper fullback since nagatomo and santon shouldn't be in contention.

maicon also too offensive while chivu was a total opposite but it worked and helped on our treble journey. so that shouldn't really be much of a problem. it all depends on the system

Except maybe Ansaldi, there isn't a single good fb at Inter. Each of them has some kind of quality but overall they're mid-table players, at best.

Let's see what De Boer can do with them. We have seen previously (although rarely in last couple of years) that great coach can make good player look great.

Jonathan as RWB under Mazarri comes to mind

True and maicon had also defensive lapses but he was okay defensively, erkin is known to be bad defensively and he has a problem with defending any set piece+ when maicon was here we had the best midfield to cover for him but I get your point and I totally agree, just saying maicon is a bit different than erkin. I consider bruno perez like maicon :p
