Does anyone know who the other coach's he brought with him are? Can't find this information anywhere, and Inter.it isn't updated yet.

I've never been able to get behind the idea that a club should sign exactly the player a coach wants. (As in, not just fitting the type of player, but the same individual the coach is thinking of). Presumably a coach spends his working hours coaching. How many additional hours can he devote to scouting out potential transfers as well? It seems odd to entrust so much spending to an individual with limited time and information.
I think there's a middle ground.

Example the perfect transfer window of 2009 did not bring what mou wanted but it was branca and oriali who found particular players which werent mou's first choices.

What bothers me is that we're overrating Ajax's talents big time. I am not really excited to buy any of their attacking "wonderkids".

Last serious attacking player over there was Suarez. Before that they all pushed Babel like a big thing but he failed miserably. That Milik is nothing special too and Napoli just forced that transfer.

Looks they are doing solid job with defenders in last 5 years though.
Milik is a very good striker, dont judge him by the performances at the EC.Napoli has done a good job here.

STRAIGHT UP BOSS!

- - - Updated - - -

De Boss: Maybe I have a defender who can play in the middle

The Dutchman also talk of possible requests for the last market days: "Too early to tell if it will help to have some new players, I have to know all the elements in the team and understand what they can give to the team. Maybe a defender can play in midfield, and so we will not need to shop. If we will miss someone to buyI will ask it but for now I can say that we will not buy anyone. in a few weeks we will take the decisions. "

De Boer: 'Can't wait for Inter-Milan'
By Football Italia staff

New Inter Coach Frank de Boer “can’t wait to experience the Milan Derby” and hints there might not be any more signings.

The tactician took over from Roberto Mancini this week, even though the Serie A season kicks off on August 20.

“I can’t wait to experience the Milan Derby,” the former Ajax boss told Mediaset Premium.

“There are many famous derbies in Europe, like Glasgow or Madrid, and Inter-Milan is truly special. I can’t wait to enjoy San Siro from the bench in a fantastic atmosphere.”

De Boer makes his debut in tonight’s friendly with Borussia Monchengladbach and was asked whether his arrival would transform their transfer strategy.

“It’s too early to say if we need new players, as I have to get to know those in the squad and understand what they can bring.

“A defender could well play in midfield, so therefore it would not be necessary to make any new buys. If we are missing someone, I’ll ask for their purchase, but for now I can say we won’t be buying anyone.

“In a few weeks we will make some decisions.”

I think the thing that makes me feel OK about this move only 2 weeks before the season starts, is the way de Boer took over at Ajax. He was not hired in May or June and given the whole summer to prepare his team. Martin Jol was manager of Ajax at the start of the 2010-11 season. Jol went 9-5-3 in the clubs first 17 matches. He only won 1 of his final 5 league matches in charge, which lead to his firing. He also went 1-1-3 in the group stage of CL, losing to Real Madrid 4-0 at home! Ajax was in 5th place at the time of de Boer's takeover.

Frank was put in charge on December 6th and his first match was against Milan in the San Siro on December 8th. 2 days later! Not only did de Boer win the match against Milan 2-0, but he also won 13 of the final 17 matches in the league, defeating Twente on the final day to jump them in the standings and win the Eredivisie title. He did have the winter break, which lasts a month in the Eredivisie, after his first 2 matches in charge, but he has experience getting a team together in a short amount of time.

However, his second season in charge started off awful. If he had a similar start to that here, I could definitely see us firing him. At least if things were run like they used to be. I think Ajax fell all the way to 6th or 7th place that year by mid season. Not sure what ignited them, but they won the final 14 matches of the season, scoring 44 goals and allowing just 6!

In fact, de Boer showed a similar pattern in his first 3 seasons in charge. Ajax always started off slow when he was in charge and then finished strong each year.

2011-12
First Half: 9-6-2, 4th place (5-6-2 in first 13 matches)
Second Half: 14-1-2, 1st place

2012-13
First Half: 10-6-1, 3rd place (4-6-1 in first 11 matches)
Second Half: 12-4-1, 1st place

2013-14
First Half: 10-4-3, 2nd place (5-4-3 in first 12 matches)
Second Half: 10-7-0, 1st place

So let's not be in shock if the results do not happen right away. We gave Mancini 20+ months, hopefully we show the same patience with de Boer.

To me this is too general an analysis. You can't just look at results and make verdicts about methodology. Even if a trend shows up every season De Boer was at the club, there's no evidence to say he's the source.

I'm also not so sure we would get rid of De Boer so easily if we had a bad start to the season, and I'd hope we were more prudent about it. Wouldn't think Thohir would sack him but we were never in that situation earlier in the season so who knows and we don't know how Suning will look at it.

No doubt we should give him support and time to implement his ideas on the squad, even more so without a real preseason. How long the squad will adapt can depend on a variety of factors. Personally I don't expect to see his previous brand of football to come off quickly or easily with our current squad, especially with a goalkeeper that is a liability with the ball, no ball playing defenders, and as of right now two DMs that aren't composed with the ball. We'll see what happens.

Actually Murillo is pretty good with the ball (first notice that when i watch him on Copa America before he join us) but for some reasons Mancini has not used this ability too much.

To me he has the technique but he doesn't have the composure.

We talk about Murillo in a ball playing defender role not as a midfielder.

Fair.Let's see if he can get that with De Boer and new season.Potential for that role is here.

I said it before he came he is more of a Lucio then a Córdoba. He is good with his feet and making runs. He is just young and makes brain dead mistakes. Like Cordoba he does use his speed to make up for it. Hopefully he can work on his his man to man Marking during free kicks and corners. He is atrious at that for Colombia. Didn't really notice it too much for Inter as Miranda is a way better CB partner then Zapata of Ac Milan

STRAIGHT UP BOSS!

I just hope he isn't the type of 'boss' like Mazzarri, who looked badass at first and was crying like a lil bitch at the end of his tenure.

I didn't say anything about methodology. I just thought it was interesting that he started off slow in 3 straight seasons.

Him learning from Miranda = best thing ever
In a few years Real is going to knock on the door to replace Pepe or Ramos

the only defender that could have emulated a DM position was Juan, and we sold him for peanuts while we kept andreolli and rano.

its bcoz no one wants Rano, and Andreolli is hurt. Besides,Juan is very reckless w the ball in his feet,so idk about him in the midfield.

He's also tight fisted when it comes to cash, into fashion (every match he has a new outfit) while not following ajax's clothes sponsor and collects watches.

The fashion and watch bit seems to contradict the cash bit.

the thing I think about the most post mancini is our fullback sitaution we can't be serious starting the season with nagatomo d'ambrosio or even erkin/ansaldi a player like telles would have been top compared to the clowns we have here with de boer.
