Neymar really wants to spend his birthday with his mates rather than teammates... Every year same story

Also, Icardi got credited with a goal that never should have been credited to him. Reminds me of another he got vs Juventus though he did change the trajectory slightly after Brozovic's shot back then. Also similar with Inzaghi's goal in the CL final after Pirlo's shot.

They shouldn't hand out goals so lightly. At least he did touch it unlike Kane who hadn't and was whining to get credit for it

French PM Édouard Philippe: "The big sporting affairs cannot occur before September. The 2019/20 football season cannot return."

UEFA needs to get their heads out of their asses and tell the world that the 2020/21 Champions League season can start in December or whatever. This is the only thing that will make this season void, cancelled or in general, fucked.

French government lobbying partners so that Europe’s other top 5 leagues’ seasons do not restart

Le Parisien report this evening that French President Emmanuel Macron does not want professional football to return for the end of 2019/20 seasons in Spain, Italy, Germany and England following the French government’s decision to block Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 from returning until earliest in August.

As it stands, only three major leagues have decided not to finish their 2019/20 campaigns: the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

Roxana Maracineanu, Minister for Sports in France, has begun bilateral talks with European partners to implore them to take the same action as the French government did on Tuesday.

She has already spoken with Italian and German partners and is due to speak with the Spanish Minister for Sports tomorrow. Certain sources claim that Macron himself has made phone calls for this to occur, although the French government has moved to deny these claims to the newspaper in question.

These bilateral talks appear to be having an impact, if one is to listen to Vincenzo Spadafora, the Italian Minister for Sports, who indicated on Wednesday:

“The decisions that are in the process of being taken in other countries, like in France, could push Italy to follow this position, which could then become a European position.”

On Friday, Italian footballing bodies will have further discussions. On Thursday, Angela Merkel is expected to provide more details on the future of the 2019/20 Bundesliga season.

When is the final decision to be taken on whether leagues will continue or not? I remember saying a date around the end of May or so.

As it stands I'm guessing Germany is the closes to returning?

According to French reports, BeIN Sports & Canal + will refuse to make TV rights payments to the LFP following to definitive end of the 2019/20 season, meaning the league will miss out on €243m. Let's see if LFP are going to stick with their decision now.

That's a lot of money.

It will be interesting to see, legally, how these contracts were written wrt to "act of god" claims and whether it was written to benefit one party over the other. And of course, the trickle down effect. So for example, if I'm leasing my stadium, as a club do I still have to make payments since my revenue is now gone due to an "act of god"...

Oh and insurance..

LFP formally announced PSG as Ligue 1 champions. PSG, Marseille and Rennes to CL. Amiens and Toulouse relegated to Ligue 2. Lorient and Lens will be promoted to Ligue 1.

The promotion situation feels so unfair. If you look at the table you will cry for some of these teams.

Also Lille is robbed of their chance to participate in the Champions League here. It'd be a no brainer if they had 4 spots, but it feels cruel here.

Strasbourg got screwed over the most along with Lille. Lille 1 point away from CL with all those games to go, and Strasbourg finishing 10th even though they had a game in hand, which if they won would have taken them to joint 5th/6th place or something..

Monaco hired Niko Kovac. He had done an interesting job at Eintracht but he couldn't handle the demanding Bayern dressing room. Curious how he's gonna do in another league.

Why surprising? Half their team isn't even there. Their depth is quite shit.

It was against a newly promoted team, no? Still quite surprising.

The bottom half of Ligue 1 and the top half of Ligue 2 are essentially on the same level, with a couple of individuals (in total) being the only exceptions.

Kimbempe, Verrati, Gueye, Sarabia, Herrera, Kurzawa, Jese and Bernat all played. They are good enough to not lose.
