Starting this thread, as today the headlines are all about this guy and I know shit all about him to be honest... Probably a very romantic bullshit rumour - the new ownership opening with the signing of huge potential (and price we can't cover), but still.

I read somewhere on the forum that we actually made a bid and got excited but then was let down when I read the actual quote...

Man City just placed a large bid on Gabriel Jesus - reported to be $24 million (£16.7m) offer for the Palmeiras forward.

City have matched a £16.7 million release clause that only applies for Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, PSG or Real Madrid, with his normal clause at £27.8 million. Palmeiras have received offers of 19-year-old Gabriel of £13.2 million from Barcelona and £14.6 million from Italian champions Juventus.

“€15m is not enough for him,” agent Cristian Simoes told Lancenet in Brazil.

“Gabriel is playing brilliantly, he is scoring goals and he has a €40m release clause. Of course Palmeiras are not going to sell him for less than that.

“If we receive a good offer, we could think about it, but there is nothing concrete at the moment.”

However, Lancenet also points out Palmeiras only own 33 per cent of the player’s rights, as Gabriel Jesus owns 15 per cent, agent Simoes €32.5 per cent and his former agent Fabio Caran has 22.5 per cent.
