I've never been a huge fan of evaluating players in team sports based on trophies. Is Buffon any less of a GK because he can't win the UCL? I would argue no, the team's he has played for have just been significantly inferior to the teams they have lost to.

Exactly. Same goes for L.Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic, Cannavaro, Ballack, Bergomi, Roberto Baggio and many others who have never won the CL.

btw Giuseppe Bergomi has won only 1 scudetto in his entire career that stretched from 1979 to 1999. No difference between him and Totti. Collective titles are a silly way to evaluate a player's status in football imo.

The same can be said about Roque Junior and Ricardo Quaresma. These players won World Cup, Euro championship and Champions League, does that mean they're world class?

Henry belongs to these group of players, an argument can be made that he is better / worse or close to than any of these players except the last 4 on the list.

BTW, all the players on that list are great players and had a lot of impact with their clubs, but there is a different level when it comes to talent, goals & trophies. My observation on Henry was mainly in Europe with Arsenal because i remember these games specifically where he couldn't finish some chances and could have won it easily with Arsenal with him leading the way.

Totti is the odd one out because of his lack of trophies with Roma but he won 1 and considering how hard it was at the time its an achievement inetself, he gets a boost because he stayed with Roma all his life and his WC win. There is no debate though had he gone to Barca or Real he would have won more, like Henry did when he went to Barca for example.

Ill refer back to my list,

Great players are great players, regardless if they won a lot or not, when you saw them play you know they have that extra quality, why they didn't win much or weren't as decisive could be done to a billion factors but what makes some of these players stand out regardless of the long trophy haul is that they were consistent most of their careers and when they were there it was WC to see.. You could argue that without these players on their team they actually would have done worse, at least they made their teams competitive, its hard to measure if these players should have done more and won more or if the teams would have sunk like the titanic without these players.

But if you notice, all the players that won multiple titles on that list had better teams than the ones who won less, FACT.

Applause. Great players and legends are two different things though. I never said he wasn't a great player. But I do think Henry is a great player and a legend.

Diego Maradona has won only two scudetti and 1 world cup but he's still considered the best player in history. Moreover, Totti has achieved more than Roberto Baggio (who unlike Totti has played for the 3 top Italians). Where does that leave Baggio according to your argument?

Maradona had the national team on his back though? He made them win that shit. What have Totti done by himself? Occupied the striker position for Rome for several years just to get some more goals and get to position two in most goals scored?

Didn't Buffon actually win individual awards like UEFA BEST PLAYER IN EUROPE? 8 scudetti? uefa cup/europe league with parma?

If you guys had to make a list of your five favourite fooballers to watch, would you choose? Trying to avoid the two obvious answers. For me:

1) Bale
2) De Bruyne
3) Reus
4) Griezmann
5) Florenzi

Bale and his speed/free kicks, when healthy, is simply magical. Watching him carry Wales last year was awesome. Florenzi is a homer pick, as he's one of my favourite Italian players. I just love guys who can do a little bit of everything.
