Youth team is about developing a few special players not special teams. Results only matter so much.
I think that is the whole attitude that a lot of people don’t understand.

To develop top youth players you have to focus on develop your top talents not on winning titles. Although sometimes it goes hand in hand. If that means losing points from time to time because your top talents aren’t the best players on their best position at that moment, that’s okay.

Talent correlates reasonably well with performance. Look at Barca as an example

That's collective talent of course, not just individual. You can be a great talent in a shit environment.

But here's why I mention that results matter to these guys. This is a starting point to get a winner's mentality. If you are okay with losing just because it gives you playing time, you're not going to amount to much no matter how talented you are. This is the Ousmane Dembele attitude.

This is also why I advocate for players to be loaned at midtier league contenders rather than Serie A fringe clubs that may battle for relegation or just a 10th spot. You need to build character, and winning matters a lot. Call it correlation if you wish, cannot really say it's a must, but it's one thing a lot of top players have in common. They played to win since a young age.

In U19/Primavera teams results matter. Winning should be the norm. Every youth team before those 2 should be about developing talents. Not teams but talents. That's an important difference imo.

as an example, Fagioli for Juve basically played a full season for Cremonese, 33 games, 3 goals, and they got promoted.

Now he's getting a little bit of game time with a Juve team thats in complete disarray

Thats kind of the level we need from our youth if they want to have a chance in our squad, tbh

Early days but Fabbian seems to be in that level. He has started in all 11 games with Reggina (4th in Serie B) and he already has 4 goals.

Good to hear. Lets hope he keeps it up.

I'm really disappointed in Satriano and Esposito, tbh.

Inzaghi isn't really familiar with these under 22 kids. youngsters should stay away from Inzaghi method because he wouldn't give them minutes for them to play

i think Esposito is a lost cause. The hype got in his head and he became a spoiled kid. I always said, him scoring only flashy goals was never a good sign, a striker needs to score regularly and the dirty ones.

Satriano on the other hand i am more hopeful. He looks like the typical striker who relies on off ball movement and intelligence to score and these are things that you get with experience , so probably he will have the same trajectory as most italian strikers and become relevant after the 25th. Probably won't become inter material but for sure Serie A

I still have some hopes on Esposito. But it doesn’t help him that he has no real position yet. He seems more of an support striker or attacking midfielder than a pure central striker. He isn’t a goalscoring machine. Also Anderlecht bein’ pure shit this season doesn’t help. He also strikes me as a dickhead. But the talent is there imo.
