I like how Handanovic somehow failed to stop Veloso's shot that was blasted right down the middle, not in the top corner, but right down the center. Then the ball bounced to Pandev who had all the time in the world and Handanovic more or less out of the equation, and he too, blasts the ball right down the middle He's lucky he didn't hit his shot straight at the downed keeper and have it saved.

I'm not nearly as big a Candreva critic as many here, but that penalty was ridiculous. And watching Kondogbia trying to spray long balls over the pitch was just abysmal. Dude has the passing ability of a retarded child but we're relying on him to dictate play from deep with long balls? OK. Thanks. But that's as much Pioli's fault as it is Kondogbia's. We've been lacking influence and strength in midfield for a long time, so clearly the best option is to make the midfield even weaker and play some kind of flat 442? from what I could tell anyway.

That's what I saw. More like 424 to me. Playing 442, or even 4231 with traditional wingers like Candreva and Perisic will always fail. What I realized from Pioli's game plan, our players are so far away from each others, especially Candreva and Perisic. I rarely see them helping out the midfield even though they often help their fullbacks, but they need to cover more centrally sometimes because the midfield's too light, not to mention they lack depth. Pretty sure Candreva was covering the midfield too that in Pioli's first games but after that he stopped doing that.
