Get the feeling I'll be watching a lot more of this (and Spain, and England) this season. Need to be able to find some football that can take my mind off the shitshow that has become our beloved club.
Same
Might watch Villa this season as well (if I have the opportunity).

Since Bundesliga will probably go to Bayern, once again. I'll probably watch La Liga more and root for The Yellow Submarine. Probably Real and Athletico will fight it out though.

Bundesliga is starting tonight in North-Rhine Westfalia with Gladbach hosting Bayern at Borussia park. Here's a preview about the upcoming season. Sadly it contained too many characters to post it so i just added the link.

This is certainly going to be a transition season for Bundesliga. I don't remember the last time we had so many changes in so many teams. So perhaps all this uncertainty could give us an exciting season.

As for my expectations, Bayern have looked bad on preseason but it's Bayern. Only a fool would bet against them. Nagelsmann probably is the best coach of the league but Bayern squad is a bad fit for his tacticts and he would have to adjust. I expect Bayern to struggle at the start of the season. The real question is if anyone can take advantage of it. Honestly i have no clue. There have been so many changes that you really don't know what to expect from any of the other top teams.

One thing is certain. There are some really interesting projects this season so it could be fun.

Disgraceful refereeing in Mönchengladbach. Ref denied two clear penalties to Gladbach and saved Bayern from the first defeat of the season. Great start to the season. 🙃👎

Disgraceful refereeing in Mönchengladbach. Ref denied two clear penalties to Gladbach and saved Bayern from the first defeat of the season. Great start to the season. 🙃👎

On the first penalty claim, I wonder if it gets called if Hofmann plays the pass to Thuram after he had his shoulder clipped. In American football, I've seen cases where the QB will see a defensive holding happen and throw the ball towards the receiver being held anyway for the sake of drawing attention to the penalty. In this case, Hofmann dialed back and waited for Stindl to get closer and tried the pass again.

On the second one, given that it once again involved Thuram, I'm left to wonder there if Fritz thought Thuram was trying to buy a penalty there after probably feeling like he was wrongly denied the first one moments earlier.

I dunno, I don't feel particularly aggrieved - maybe I should - but I also prefer having a high bar for penalties being awarded. I will say that the general consensus I'm seeing from people who (it wouldn't seem) have a Hund in the Bundesliga fight suggests to me that at least one of them should have been given. Oh well. No guarantee it gets converted anyway.

Overall, I feel a bit encouraged from what I saw from Gladbach. Liked the way they were able to move the ball within tight spaces, and a better second half in terms of opening Bayern up a bit. More annoyed by the Thuram miss around 75' than the penalty shouts (and Stindl nearly scored immediately following that first penalty claim anyway). But that was a good display for a team playing their first league game under a new manager against Bayern of all teams...what's going to be extremely important is avoiding what I'm going to call "Hütter Dürrens". You can point to a stretch or two in all three of Hütter's seasons at Frankfurt where they could not win games to save their lives, and I'm not talking small stretches of play either, but stretches that could last for months at a time. Those teams were ridiculously hot-and-cold. It got them close to the CL two times but it didn't get them in. Can't have those this year if Gladbach expects to make top-4.

Not really surprised Dortmund demolished Eintracht tonight. Eintracht were eliminated in DFB Pokal by a 3. Liga team few days ago and they're probably the biggest uncertainty of the league this season. New coach, new sporting director and they also lost their star forward and ex-Milan player, Andre Silva.

Bayern beat Dortmund 3-1 at Westfalen and won Supercup. Dortmund have a huge issue with rb. This is also a lesson to those who believe replacing Hakimi is easy.
