The Bundesliga season will start on the 13th of August in North Rhine-Westphalia between title holders Bayern facing Borussia Mönchengladbach at the Borussia-Park.

The promoted clubs are Bochum and Greuther Fürth.

All these years, Bayern has opened up on the opening night Freitagnachtspiel at home as the defending champions. I'm not sure at all as to why this season it'll be an away game for them, but I'm very much looking forward to that game already. Hopefully Gladbach can have a productive summer and be ready to fight for Champions League positions again this upcoming season. Playing a domestic-only schedule as opposed to having six useless Conference League games should definitely help.

Still early days and it could be more of a wishful thinking than a realistic expectation but there are ggood chances we could finally have an exciting season in Bundesliga. It's going to be a transition season for many teams. I don't remember the last time so many top teams started the new season with a new coach. Bayern, Leipzig, Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Eintracht, Leverkusen, Gladbach.

Nagelsmann at Bayern is going to be very interesting as their squad is unfit for his favorite back 3 formation. I believe he will go for a 4-4-2 at the start of the season though there's plenty of time left in the transfer market so we will see.

I am also curious to see what Fredi Bobic, the mastermind behind Eintracht success, can do at rich but mismanaged so far Hertha Berlin.

Thinking of creating a 2. Bundesliga thread
I don't think there's enough interest for Zweite Liga to create a thread. Even the interest for Bundesliga is limited. Bundesliga threads don't even reach a double digit number of pages. We can turn this thread into one for German football in general and you can post any 2. Liga related stuff on this thread.

Zweite Buli will definetely be interesting to watch with Schalke relegated and all the better teams in northern Germany located there. HSV, Werder and Hannover. 10 out of 18 stadiums in the league have a capacity of +29000. Crazy. Also the promotions of Hansa and Dresden will definetely result in some interesting matches with Pauli.

2nd tier looks more appealing than 1st in Germany, that's for sure.

It's so weird watching Schalke-HSV in 2.Liga. Respect for grandpa Huntelaar for following Schalke in Zweite.

It felt like I was watching a Bundesliga game, it really did. At least it was nice to see a sizable stadium capacity today. Hope that continues as we move along with no reductions.

Schalke is still a disaster, of course.

Get the feeling I'll be watching a lot more of this (and Spain, and England) this season. Need to be able to find some football that can take my mind off the shitshow that has become our beloved club.
