Like I've read somewhere else: 'You can take Kane away from Spurs, but you can't take Spurs away from Kane'.
Kompany new manager @Bayern. Belgium media are all up in the air for Kompany. Even Guardiola gave encouraging words to Bayern in order for them to hire Kompany. Sure, since Bayern are a rival for the CL. Who wouldn't want to weaken their rivals?
Incredible how Kompany who hasn't done, accomplished alot as a manager, - after one miserable season in EPL where he got relegated, and now to perenial CL contenders... What are Bayern thinking?
They were desperate. Simple as that.
Language barrier limits their options a lot. Speaking German is considered an important asset for their coach. Even Guardiola had to learn German. They make exceptions only for exceptional cases (e.g. Ancelotti). And that's why imo Conte and De Zerbi were never seriously considered. They can usually get a good or at least a promising German speaking coach but this time it wasn't the case.
Their top choice was Alonso but he chose to stay at Leverkusen. Then they tried hard to convince Nagelsmann to return. But he's too smart to return after the way they treated him and decided to extend wth national team. They would have loved Klopp but he's taking a sabbatical. They approached Rangnick and everything looked done but in the end he rejected them for family reasons. Then they approached Glasner but Crystal Palace didn't let him go. Sebastian Hoeneß and Rose stayed at their clubs. Flick has a bad relationship with Uli and he always preferred going to Barca. They even asked Tuchel to stay but he said no. In the end they just decided to take a punt on an ex Bundesliga player turned coach in Kompany. If it works, great. If not, they can revaluate their options next year as they weren't getting any of the coaches on their list. Or to be exact Kompany was their 9th choice
