Strama started doing 3-x-x a few games into the next season, even before mazzari came

Total slap in the face to Gasp tbh

Honestly if in a few years Conte leaves and Gasperini is available I wouldn’t be against giving him a second chance.

This. That's why he's so pissed with Inter management at the time. In the next season, we brought the player he wanted (Palacio) and let the coach experiment with a back 3, like he wanted.

Problem with Gasperini is he takes risks and subsequently concedes a lot of goals. He would more athletic CBs to pull off his football at Inter.

I think that bridge is burned. I think a small part of his success is driven by his spite for Inter. And good for him.

Good for him for doing so well, but we don't owe him anything. He wasn't able to manage the situation, he immediately lost the players. However bad it may sound, managing the team is part of the skill set necessary to lead a team with great ambitions.

And while the management made things more complicated selling Eto'o instead of Sneijder, he could also have resigned.

What he's doing at Atalanta is before our eyes, but think about this: no other "great team" considered hiring him. If it were just our fault, there is no reason why jiventus, Milan, or even roma wouldn't consider him.

He just couldn't manage something that was too big for him.

It's a matter of mentality: the likes of Mancini are probably not as good coaches as him, but have what it takes in terms of personality.

Gasperini: 'Wake-up call for Atalanta'
by Football Italia3 minutes ago
Gian Piero Gasperini admits Inter ‘gave Atalanta a real wake-up call’ after their 2-0 home defeat to close the season. ‘This was the best preparation for PSG.’
La Dea had been unbeaten since the restart and could’ve taken second place with a victory, but not only lost, they also failed to find the net in Serie A for the first time since September.

“This was the best preparation for the Champions League, because Inter attacked us, they were aggressive and stopped us from playing, with a high tempo and quality,” the coach told DAZN.
“We had taken our foot off the gas a little in the last few weeks, but tonight we realised that we cannot play like that against teams like this. We congratulate Inter and also hope this can serve as a lesson for us.
“They gave Atalanta a real wake-up call. We have to focus only on improving year after year. We have a lot to improve and must keep raising the bar, at the same time taking into account the economic level of this club, which cannot be the same as the Scudetto contenders.
“We’ve had comebacks so often, today we conceded after a minute and were 2-0 down after 20, the worst possible circumstances against a side like Inter. There was a reaction, which is positive, it will be useful in future, but we must realise that it’s not like we have to start playing when we’re behind.
“Antonio Conte congratulated me at the final whistle and I did the same to him. He’s done a great job and the final table is accurate.”

Where did his talk about playing games twice a week is better for his players? He is naïve.

I dont think anything he said in the interview negates that. He just says that they took their foot off the pedal which can still happen. Any team, no matter how good, will have a period they go through where they play below their level for a number of games.

what else could he have said? he had no option but to put a good face on it, we beat him fair and square, we nearly didn't leave them a chance.

Gasperini said he hopes Inter and Conte find the way to continue together as they're the only team capable to beat Juve. Should we start worrying about all these nice comments from Gasperini about Inter?

No, we should worry about "protecting" Conte from the evil that breathes and walks to destroy him.
