Probably our most obvious signing in summer of 2022, even Marotta admitted yesterday:

“It’s natural that big clubs are looking carefully at the talents at Sassuolo, including Inter, and our staff all work together with the intent of reinforcing Inter as much as possible.
Above all, we are looking out for the Made in Italy element of the transfer market, as that aspect is often overlooked, but Italian football is at the forefront.” - Don Beppe

Current market value: €20M

Sassuolo are looking for a sale in the region of €40-45M, while Inter plan to insert counter-part(s) in the deal (Pinamonti, Pirola).

There's something off-putting to me about neck tattoos in general.

If his numbers start matching his hype I won't care though.

If we can get him for something like 20-25M + some young player, lets say Pinamonti, then yes. But paying 40M or even more would be pretty stupid. For me Frattesi and Raspadori should be our main Sassuolo targets.

Raspadori is too much of a luxury. We need someone who can be a consistent goal scorer. Scamacca is more likely to be that guy, while Raspadori would be an ideal Alexis replacement in a couple of years.

I think we're going to end up signing Scamacca. He's the only striker who is under 30 years old and in our price range. We need a new number nine.

I am not convinced by this guy at all. He has some skills but i can't see him being the leader of our attack in the long term. And that's what we need, not a backup. Also the price is insane. Anything more than 20-25m is ridiculous. I won't mind if we miss on him.

Agreed. I feel this is going to be a transfer like Correa. Some will be glad, most will have some doubts and because we splashed the cash on this player we can't get anyone else. This will bite us in the ass just like the transfer of Correa does until now.

Yeah I mean it’s tough to know what you’re going to get here. He could become a top player and make the price look like peanuts. Or he could be a really average striker that we have a hard time moving on from with little to no market abroad to save us.

What I will say is that he does have the tools. It’s tough to find players of his size that have decent technical qualities. He isn’t exactly Ibra on the ball but he’s also not Icardi. There is potential there and he is starting to score more regularly. The issue with Inter’s finances is that we essentially are forced to take gambles or sign players long after their prime. Once a player has proven he’s a sure thing we’re already priced out. So what do you do? We have to sign a striker.

The good news is I believe we have everything here now for a young player to come in and succeed and grow. Whereas before it was sink or swim for a lot of the players we signed. You basically had to survive on pure talent alone. No structure, poor mentality, constantly swapping coaches, etc. Now we have a winning squad, great locker room and a coach that is a strikers dream. If we can’t make Scamacca good he simply doesn’t have the quality.

Too overpriced. If the board is so keen on him add our deadwoods in the deal. This guy doesn't give me the vibe of a player with high ceiling.

Extremely well said. Scamacca is definitely a risky acquisition if done with 35-45m€ valuation. But we have the tools to nurture him. Very good point how the environment at Inter is so much better than let's say like 4-5 years ago for a younger player.

I can't stop talking about the benefit of using the makeweight parts so I just keep going on with that. Using pinamontis and pirolas allows us to inflate their prices so we don't need as much cash to acquire a more costly player. In comparison, we buy a striker from abroad and we need to put more cash in to get him. Because if we sell Pinamonti or Pirola with cash, we aren't getting anywhere close the same valuation as we would get if we include them to Scamacca deal (for example). Who can we buy for 20-25m€ in cash who can be our first striker starting in 2023? (assumption is Scamacca and Dzeko both plays next season in the Scamacca scenario).

Vlahovic seems to be totally out of our price range so like thatdude said, we need go for these guys who we need to nurture by ourselves to be our Vlahovic before they become Vlahovic.

edit. The environment argument is IMO super important. For example Juve is a terrible place for young players to get nurtured to next level. See Kulusevksi, De Ligt. At Inter we have Lautaro who's relatively young still but experienced and can play as a starter, no pressure, nothing, he can hold it. Then we have Dzeko who's the first striker who just needs heavy rotation now. There is a need for player like Scamacca but he doesn't have to start producing the minute he steps on the pitch wearing Inter jersey. And that's the attack, the rest of the team is very well structured to support the attack. Midfield is perfect, defence is fantastic with Inzaghiball, players going all in attacking, also them supporting forwards.

Catch-22 if I ever saw one.

If he bangs in 10-15 goals, he’s way out of our price range already.
If he doesn’t and stagnates we’d be right to doubt if he can lead the line for Inter.

I rarely ever forego a chance to judge, but Ausilio and Marotta have done enough for me to trust them on this one. If we want him, we pretty much need to lock him down now or never.

Overpriced cause he is Italian, just like english player deal in EPL.

If he from Egypt or african country, max 30 million.

You pay a higher transfer premium for Italian players knowing that they'll never want to leave you for a Real, Barca, etc.

remember when we signed a player from sassuolo that also loved scoring nice goals from outside the box, but then came to us and his only trick was to go left and sometimes hit a woodward... this cant happen twice right?...right?
