That's fair to be honest, if it weren't for injuries I'd say over the last two years he's been better than JC.
VAN DER SAR OVER CASILLAS AND KAHN?!

Well VDS did win the CL title with Ajax and Man Utd. He has been solid

I don't know about 1985 - 2001, but Buffon is certainly the best in the last decade.

Casillas was better, way more consistent, for more than 9 years in a row.

Zenga is the top Italian, then Pagliuca then Buffon/prime Toldo... If Buffon is #1 then Peruzzi should have a say as well in a Top 10 (because obviously some keepers are missing if Buffon is top!)
Barthez was very good as well, wouldn't call him Top 10, but he wasn't that much worse than Buffon really. Also both have made unbelievable blunders in their careers!

Schmeichel, Kahn, Van Der Sar, Zenga and Casillas the Top 5 for me, perhaps in that order as well.

Taffarel was not that good. Chilavert was good, but hyped because of his scoring.

Very poor list

Peruzzi and Barthez where nowhere as half as good as Buffon. The only GKs who could challenge Buffon for the top spot were Casillas, Schmeichel and Kahn.

I didn't say Barthez and Peruzzi should be contending for top spot. I said it's absurd that if Buffon is #1 that in a Top 10 list they're not in it, as obviously some other keepers are not included if Buffon is considered the best.

First of all, Walter Zenga was a milion times better than Buffon has ever been.
Casillas is quite better than Buffon, considering that Buffon always had top class defenders in front of him while Casillas rarely did and there were seasons he was the whole Real Madrid defense, went to concede 2-3 goals in that game and still be the best performer of the team!!

Also, Pagliuca was better than Buffon ever was. Toldo has been on par with Buffon as well.

Kahn, Schmeichel, Zenga, Van Der Sar... and then Casillas. That's the list. Fifth player is arguable, I'd be between Casillas and Pagliuca really. Buffon maybe 8th. Just overhyped

I wonder how Italians can consider Zenga their best goalkeeper of all time when Buffon "is better"?

List goes: 1. Zenga 2. Zoff...Buffon not even in top 5 really, it's just our era's hype. Pagliuca is barely Top 5 and I repeat that Pagliuca>>>>Buffon

Zenga better than Buffon! Are you just saying this because he was Inter's GK and Buffon Juventus GK? How old are you anyway? How many Zenga matches did you watch really?

From your post is damn obvious that you don't like Buffon, talk about that aspect. You almost made everyone better than him. So your whole idea is obvious.

And if you're talking about good defenders infront of Buffon then let me tell ya that in Zenga's time italian teams were even more into catanacio than nowdays and had much more better defenders than now. And every current great tialian defenders were not playing in Juve exactly.

Pagliuca better than Buffon! Get a grip or don't make fun of yourself dude.

First of all, Buffon wasn't always at juve...

Second, it's not Inter Vs juve, it's Zenga vs Buffon.

Italians consider Zenga and Zoff their best goalkeepers ever. Go ask around. And not 15 year olds...

Pagliuca and Toldo I rate both higher than Buffon because Buffon was very prone to mistakes. Also Buffon can't handle the ball even if his life depended on it. 80% he'd punch the ball instead of simply catch it. The saves Pagliuca made, Buffon can't even dream of making. Buffon has some great saves as well, but he's way out of Pagliuca's league. Even when Pagliuca was 38 years old at Bologna he had a better season that Buffon who was hyped because he "was a juventus goalkeeper" Same story with Toldo vs Buffon. Buffon gets the hype and the #1 spot in Italia because he's a juventus keeper. We saw this happen with Pagliuca vs Peruzzi... Pagliuca hands down better than Peruzzi, yet Peruzzi played for Lippi's juventus, yet he plays for Italy

Buffon does not possess what great goalkeepers have. He cannot win games. Also Buffon sucks at set pieces. Good towards very good, yes. Greatest ever? Hahahahaha. Not even greatest of his country, not greatest in his league... Way far from that.

Saying Buffon is better than Zenga or Pagliuca is like saying Frank Lampard is better than Lotthar Matthaus!!! or saying that Inzaghi is better than Romario!!!

Shit happens I guess. Couldn't locate the blunders vs Lazio, Leverkusen and a few others I had in mind... You could say you can find that for everyone. First of all, yes, but not as extreme and as variable, and second, doesn't that prove that Buffon is just like the rest? Not standing out or something?

He might be an upgraded version of Julio Cesar, ie great reflexes but the rest around good and average, but greatest? Just laughable... If this is the greatest goalkeeper of our times, then I must have come from dimension X with Splinter and the Ninja Turtles... coz I never seen Pagliuca failing as much as Buffon, never seen Toldo conceding lots of flukes (mostly betrayed by his defense or by unbelievable strikes). Don't recall Zenga not being the greatest Italian goalkeeper unless Dino Zoff was the guy compared to...

Buffon is not the best, he's far from the best.

1: Gianluigi Buffon

That's absolutely deserved & rightful. The others don't even come close to him in terms of performance. I think he is one of the few Italian players who everybody across the board loves & admires apart from all the rivalries & the club he plays for. A true Italian legend if you ask me.
