Bremer has been the most promising Serie A cb outside top 7, he has been very solid and consistent in the last 2 years and he has elevated his game under Juric. This doesn't mean he would be 100% success. Playing for Torino isn't the same as playing for Inter. There was a similar hype for Kumbula who was great at Verona under Juric but he looks out of his depth at Roma. But i believe he's a worthy investment.
I don't think anyone is questioning bremers defensive game. And obviously he has the athleticism to play across the back 3 and highline defense as per the modern game. But can he playmake and pass under pressure at a high level? No one seems to want to answer that, yet that's what we do 99% of the time. Trust, we will need a highly technical CB when onana starts with those risky passes across the backline.
I'm glad you mentioned kumbulla by the way.

Kumbulla would have fit well to Inter. Environment was there, veterans were there, structure was there. Roma is a fucking disaster as a place for younger players to grow.

In few games this season, even Skriniar has played in the center and we haven't looked bad. Our build up doesn't rely so much on SVD actually. It's more to the movement of whole team, and especially the midfielders to make themselves available. We've seem many times that Brozo, Hakan, Barella or even Vidal drop behind SDV to start an attack.

My view with De Vrij is he's the calming presence in our line. Last backbone who leads the defence, always positioning well (this is not true in marking but close to always) and so on.

I'm okay letting this go in terms of keeping the costs down. Skriniar needs new contract and he's 3 years younger so has resale value later (if he and we want to move him some day). Time to sell De Vrij is now as he's only going to get slower and our game needs faster CBS. As this is not a Conte team anymore where you defend low and the positioning and smarts becomes the most important thing. We need athleticism in defence and Bremer brings that (and not saying Bremer isn't good at smarts etc but De Vrij is brilliant).

There are risks involved (in changing De Vrij to other player) but I'm willing to take them based on arguments above.

You’re making it sound like what de Vrij does is Xavi-esque. 99% of de Vrij’s passes are sideways or backwards. As long as Bremer doesn’t shit his pants he’ll be fine.
DeFry is def above average for a CB, but he can do better. It's how the modern game is going, everyone is a semi-midfielder even the goalkeepers. Sideways passes to the nearest team mate no longer cuts it at the highest-level.
And again onana is a very risky passer. Im kinda worried for Skinny and Inter, oni also.

Agreed but ideally everyone should be able to playmake. Just like everyone is required to press. One weak link and chaos ensues.

I have no beef with Bremer, just trying to determine his skill level, 30M is a lot of money for Inter, we need safe bets (see correa and nsi)

Yeah, I agree that the biggest risk we're facing defensively will be Onana being a clown with the ball.

Bremer should do just fine. I said it before, I cannot find a center back transfer gone wrong apart since Murillo who was indeed a 6 month wonder (not a crap player but definitely inadequate to build around).

And I'm not liking the alternatives in Ginter and a few others that are mostly targeted to us by agents rather than our own scouting.

Yeah. And Murillo came straight from SA.

I can't us go wrong with Bremer. It comes down to negotiations with Cairo. How long will he stall them but I think he understands he needs to sell and once the player is tapped enough, you can't even have an auction.

Imo, Bremer could be our most interesting signing this summer. I really hope we are after him because i think he's very similar to Skriniar - good with the ball, strong, fast and really good on 1 on 1. Bottom line, this guy has the potential to become world class.
