James (and so Jim and Jimmy) are anglicized from the Greek name Dimitri as used by the Greek diaspora in the USA, even though the names are etymologically unrelated. If jim is wrong then lastly i have to blame my english teacher.lol

Your English name is Demeter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demeter
My earliest recollection of this name in english is from Bram Stoker's Dracula (1897), the russian ship the Demeter. In US and other english speaking countries, Demeter is uncommon but it is the true equivalent of your Greek name Dhimitris, not Jim.
