He was shipped out of Bayern because he was trying to dictate how the team should play.

Really? From whay I recall, he asked to leave.

He was played out of position by Magath on many occasions, and I recall him saying he prefers the more quiter life in a smaller team? Something along those lines.

He wanted to play a role where he can dictate the midfield, like Effenberg or Matthaus in the past. Problem is, he is no where as good as those guys were.

Magath told him to STFU, and then Ismael wanted to leave Bremen. Frings was lucky, if there was no swap opporutinity, he would have lived on the bench. Also, Bayern really liked Ismael, so the swap happened. Frings is more or less given a free role now with Bremen, and it helps when Borowski is playing with him (Tim is much better with Werder.)

Poland lost to Ecuador. Ecuador lost to us (Macedonia). And tonight if Germany lose by Poland, that means we are better than Germany

Pretty average performance from both Germany and Poland tonight. Germans got damn lucky right at the end.

Forza Ecuador!!!!!!

Deserved victory for the Germans. The Poles had a very good first half, but it was not enough. Germany can be counted lucky for winning in the 90th minute, but they played better. Lahm had an awesome game once again, and Mertesacker-Metzelder played better than before. Ballack was not something special, he played too behind, but failed to impress. He had a few good passes.

That episode with the 2 bars was great! If anyone finds it, please give a link! Everyone should have that :D

Luck had nothing to do with it. The team didn't give up until the end and it was a great game.

Brilliant move by Klinsmann to bring on the speedy Odonkor and move Schneider back to RB in place of the ineffective Friedrich. Odonkor's pace made the difference.

Another brillian move was the introduction of Neuville. I was calling for Asamoah, but Neuville is a better scorer and it paid off.

I don't think that Germany was lucky, but don't be surprised if 90% of the Press you'll read will talk about Germany's luck! And most will not emphasize on the double bar-hits episode...

Refereeing was mediocre once more in the tournament..,

The relieving part is that Germany is not favoured, as expected. The funny thing is that Germany is getting the least ref support a hosdt nation got for years, and most of the dubious calls are against them.

Excellent Bro! Excellent!!! I love Klinsmann's approach to football!! This team is great, it plays with more heart than all German teams before together. What a loveable team!!!!

I thought Germany's attack was dead and all 3 of Schweinsteiger, Ballack and Klose were poor. Poland had some chances to score but failed to capitalize and if it were not for Klinsmanns substitutions then it would've definetly ended as a draw. My money's on Ecuador to win the group.

Poland is almost out :p

If Costa Rica wins, Poland beats them in the last game, and Ecuador loses to Germany as well, then Poland may qualify with goal advantage

I think Ecuador though has already qualified, as Costa Rica seemed worse than them.

1) Both teams have very good counter options.
2) Ecuador defence seemed stable
3) Costa Rica defence seemed unorganised

So Ecuador has a slight advantage on tactics. I also think that Ecuador has better player so they'll probably get the spot ;)

I'll be laughing my ass off if Ecuador wins the group, and that is very possible especially when you take into account how badly German have been.

Germany was lucky and unlucky, I don't know how small the odds are to hit the post twice within very few seconds. but at the same time they where lucky to get a goal in the 91 min. And Ballack was shit, just like the rest of Germany's midfield. If that is all Germany have to offer then they won't get further then the 1/4 finals.

You got to love the German mentality. They never stop running – even when they play bad (not yesterday though).
Odonkor added that little bit off spice which was missing and with introduction of Neuville you could say that Klinsman had done his homework. As Mehdi said, I too admire his approach to the game. So for the sake of this tournament I really hope they can make it far. Best possible scenario would be to see them knocking out the “oh so hyped” England team. There are way too many cars driving around with the English flag herein London for my liking ;)

After 2 games Ecuador is on the lead of group A (5-0 on goals) they seem to one of the best prepared teams in this World Cup, I'm eager to see their game against Germany.

Germany, beated Poland for 1-0, but they could have done more, however they lost a bit on the attack, but gained on the defence.

This Group it's almost done as, Ecuador and Germany both have 6 points there's "only" to be decided who takes first place. Ecuador has the advantage but I know that Germany will go for the first place so it will make an interesting "last" match.
