I didn't mean you in particular. I have seen several posts belittling Asian teams and its just funny how they are getting proven wrong as the tournament goes. If you ask me, I am all in for keeping the current format with max 32 teams.

Before World Cup i had posted this.

Meanwhile Götze is back in the squad. All in all, some weird choices by Flick which have received lots of criticism in Germany. Very uninspiring squad. Midfield is strong but everything else meh.

They have a very strong and deep midfield but they have huge problems in other areas. They create many chances but they have no one to finish them and they have big gaps in defence. Flick has also made some questioning decisions.

People complain about Italy's striker problem but Germany's problem is equally bad, if not worse. Werner is in theory their best forward but he's very wasteful and he isn't even available in this tournament because of his injury. So playing Havertz as a false 9 is his only choice. He had to call up Fullkrug, a very limited player who's just in good form at midtable Werder. It's like Italy calling Caputo when he was in form at Sampdoria. Moukoko is promising but he's only 18. Too young to play in a big tournament. They really don't have anyone better.

Defence is on Flick though. He chose to leave an in form Hummels at home and starts with inconsistent Schlotterbeck and Sule at rb. He plays with Raum as a lb who's very weak defensively and he's more of a wingback. He chooses to play a back 4 without a natural rb in the squad and with players who are more suited in a back 3.

Germany aren't going far in this tournament.
