Injured against Young Boys (1:0 win), Juventus (4:4), Empoli (0:3 win), Hellas Verona (0:5 win), Fiorentina (postponed), Venezia (0:1 win).

Except for the Juventus game we haven't conceded when Hakan was missing.

So he didn't miss too many matches this season but we also can manage most teams without Hakan.

While last season he was injured against Real Sociedad (1:1), Atalanta (4:0 win), Genoa (2:1 win).

So basically he missed 8 games in a season and a half, that's nothing. I didn't count the games he was available but sat on the bench.
This isn't quite the whole story, though. Look at the Milan match where Hakan went off injured and the goals we conceded with him off the pitch.

That is true, but usually midgame injuries are more of "not part of the plan" while if the player is already injured, you plan accordingly

The question remains - will he be ready for Monaco and AC Milan?

Most probably out for Monaco aswell, but uncertain yet for derby. I've seen a report which excludes him for the derby aswell, but that's unconfirmed yet. I still think he'll make it for the derby. It has been reported that he'll be out for about 2-3 weeks, but usually footballers tend to recover quicker than expected, so let's hope it's the same case with Hakan too.

I don't wanna imagine a derby without Hakan. It's going to be a massive blow.

Shitty sources claiming out for Milan. Asllani vs a team that just presses and abuses pace on the counter is literal suicide. Got a four hour drive back home Sunday too and was gonna have my girlfriend drive so I could watch. If I see Asslani starting I may just drive and skip.

Taking into consideration the circumstances, it's really good deal for us. Simone Inzaghi turned anonymous Luis Alberto into the star, so I hope Hakan will improve here. It would be interesting to see Lukaku - Lautaro - Hakan tridente in the attacking phase.
Prophet. Almost.

If Asslani starts vs beelan they gonna spank us. Zielinski is a must as regista if Hakan is out.

I always viewed him as the perfect indicator of the difference in quality between us an Milan.

When a guy like Hakan is a star in your squad, you're in bad shape.
Lol :D

There are also posts that Hakan could never replace Brozović.

Start Asllani for Monaco, put Zielinski on when it's not looking good and start Zielinski for AC Milan.

Mkhitaryan-Zielinski-Barella for AC Milan is the way to go.

To be fair that was the Hakan of Milan. An inconsistent player who didn't have a fixed position and was mostly known for his set pieces. And even though he had a specific role in Inzaghi's system, he remained inconsistent in his first months at Inter. You will even find posts early in his second season here (prior to position change) suggesting a sale as he wasn't worth a raise. It took a position change to make him one of our most consistent players and basically turn him into world class.

There are also posts that Hakan could never replace Brozović.

I don't think many believed he could do it and for good reason. He had played in many positions in his career (CM, AM, LW and even SS) but never a DM. He was always considered a risky choice as his defensive game wasn't exactly strong. That was the reason Conte had rejected him when Beppe suggested the idea of signing Hakan.

Massive credit to Inzaghi and the player for making it work.

Yeah but those posts were also being posted when Brozović was being sold and by then Hakan was our no.1 in that regista position.

It's true he wasn't brought here to play there, but by that time it was obvious Inter wasn't in trouble, at least not in that position

Ah. Ok then. By that moment Hakan had proved he was more than an adequate replacement. :D

Im not having a dig at anyone, its hard to predict how a player will come out in a transfer, but it is just kinda funny to see comments now 'you know' how it ends up.

Oh. I wasn't arguing you had a dig at anyone. Just using your post as an excuse to make a discussion during a quiet day at work. :D

Besides, we have all had our fair share of bad takes on this forum. Sometimes it's funny to look how bad our predictions had been. There are old posts of mine that have me wonder wtf i had posted 😅

Yeah good point. Most of our other mids get tamed when they go to DLP, but he's really shining with us in it.

Hakan came to replace Eriksen. And he struggled a lot.

The idea that he'd replace Brozovic instead emerged only out of emergency. The alternatives were a younger Asllani and Gagliardini...

Mktharyan turning into gold was also probably not on the menu, so that helped a lot, otherwise Hakan now would have probably been loaned out or sold by the end of 2023 and Brozovic could probably still be around.

Pretty much. Lots of sliding door moments to get to where Hakan is now.
