Is he having a good year in Serie A? Let's see

Started in the 2:2 game against Genoa, but wasn't on the pitch at the end when they scored the second goal
Also started in the 2:0 win against Lecce and 4:0 win against Atalanta
Didn't feature in the 1:1 game against Monza
Played 63' in the loss against Milan 2:1 (again late goal, this time by Gabbia)
Played the whole 2:3 win against Udinese (Frattesi started next to him)
Played the whole 3:2 win against Torino (again with Frattesi)
Played only 12 minutes against Roma (we won 0:1)
Couldn't play for the game against Juventus (4:4) and the 0:3 win against Empoli.
Played only 20 minutes in the win against Venezia.
Played in the 1:1 game against Napoli and THANK FUCKING GOD he did, that was on of his best games.
Was injured against Verona, but we won 0:5, so who cares.
Then he started in the Parma win (3:1), Lazio win (0:6), Como (2:0) win and Cagliari win (0:3).
After that he couldn't play against Venezia (0:1), Bologna (2:2), Empoli (3:1) and Lecce (0:4).

Came back to start against Milan, but he slipped and gave away the ball (1:1).

Mostly when Inter conceded in the games he played, it wasn't his fault, he does his job and then some. Only fucked up one penalty since he came to Inter, I think. So I say he is having a pretty good season. Maybe last season was a bit better, but just because he was available more than this season.

What is also a good sign is that results don't really change all that much when he doesn't play for us. Maybe we look a bit less in control without him, but the machine keeps grinding results no matter if he is on the pitch or not. Good sign for the future.

It’s hard to pick up momentum when you’re constantly picking up niggling injuries.

I’m more worried about ongoing injuries than an intrinsic drop in form.

And who will replace him in the future? I dont see it right now.

Since you are asking, Ricci could be a good signing.

I like Hakan and his penalties saved us a few times, but my "research" also shows that Inter is getting it done even when he isn't there. Which is a good thing to not be overreliant on one player.

We're not reliant on him but we need a reliable backup, which we don't have. We get by shifting others to cover for him but if we need 2 backups, we're screwed, unless Barella is the player available and has Zielinski next to him.

We are as reliant on him as we were with Brozovic before.

I wonder if there's a way to become not reliant on our regista other than changing the way we play entirely.

Asllani struggles here, and so does Zielinski. If we don't address this in the summer we'll have big problems (we already begin to have them now).

I disagree to a point. Sure, he is our starter and we want him starting as much as possible, but results so far this season are better than expected when Hakan can't play or is starting on the bench. It's basically the same, about 2.1-2.3 points gathered per match. I do agree that we play uglier without him, but there are instances of matches we won by scoring 2, 3, 4 goals when Hakan wasn't playing, so it is doable. There are also games where him or Mkhitaryan don't look good at all and yet we win. Crazy stuff.

I don't think we can find a player like him for cheap to replace him adequatly (that meaning, somebody on the same level), but oddly enough, it's him who can be replaced easiest if sold. Maybe Pavard as well, since we have Bisseck waiting. Even if that means one year of Zielinski and Asllani playing in his position, it's not that bad at all. The only player that I really like to be his successor is Ricci.

Of our main starters who aren't too old to be sold for a good fee - Barella, Hakan, Bastoni, Lautaro, Thuram, Pavard - it's only Hakan and Pavard I believe could be adequatly replaced and could make sense to be sold (even tho I hope we don't have to do that). For Lautaro, we would lose our talisman, striker captain, Thuram has been arguably our best player this season, at least in the first few months, Barella is our best player overall, Bastoni is something special and CBs that can create so much are not everywhere. Especially those who are lefties. It's only those two, and Frattesi on the bench who could be sold and I wouldn't worry too much.

That's two matches in a row coming off injury where he's been inadequate for the job. Did he/mgmt hurry him back too quickly?

I can't believe I am saying this, but rather start Asllani. At least when he sucks then that is no surprise. Hakans last two games have been absolute shit show.

Love Hakan but he has been really underperforming since his muscle injuries. He doesnt look fully recovered and if his problems become chronic we need a starter to share games and not just cover.

It was expected though. He hadn't trained for weeks, he returned to group training one day before Milan game and then he had to start two games in 4 days. It was a mistake to rush him in the starting lineup but i understand why Simone did it. He simply doesn't trust Asllani (or anyone else for that matter) in his role.

And it isn't the first time this happens during the season. He also rushed Acerbi back which aggrevated his injury.

I'm sorry but there's no excuse for that shit fucking performance. It's not like he was out for a year.

I feel like he's not there mentally.

Inter need to dump either Calhanoglu-Mikhitaryan-Zielinski-Asllani or Frattesi to the bin.

Mikhitaryan-Calhanoglu-Zielinski-Asllani-Frattesi combination destroy Inter center line completely, either Mikhi-Calha-Zielinski-Asllani play too slow or Frattesi plays too fast, hasty, aggressively.
