He was fine. Not great not terrible.
It's our midfield that was unequipped to play against Verona who aimed to forced a lot of 50-50 situations and won most of them thanks to their physicality and numbers. Conceding early goal due to individual error didn't help either.
You can clearly see many plays where Verona's midfield just headed the ball around 3-4 times and we couldn't do anything. Eriksen would suffer 3 times more in this kind of games. He's also not tactically adaptable to playing mezzala.
Verona's gameplan came with a trade off, they ran out of gas in the 2nd half and when we threw in Vidal, Vecino and Correa i.e. big players, their advantages disappeared.
Our midfield of course still have a lot to work on, we shouldn't be so disconnected when we had the ball under our feet, should flow the ball better, should tactically position themselves better, etc... If we won't have been there yet by November, I will be worried, but for now, I think it was a slightly positive display by Hakan.
