I wonder if he could be more useful higher on the pitch and closer to forward (s). In his current position he has certainly been very disappointing and only starts because of the lack of options.
I was actually excited about signing Hakan for free, he looked like Milan’s most dangerous player most games I watched, but he was playing much closer to goal.

Playing as a central midfielder, the guy is a complete non-entity at the moment. I can see him being more useful as a supporting forward, but the team is already stacked with such players.

If this guy consists at something, this is definitely at being suck, maybe as the smart guy above me said, he need change position, when he play at mid, we look like we play with 10 man, this guy job need to be smart passes to our forwards and shooting from a far, his correct position just ruin us every game..

Agree with everything. But looking positives, at least he's useful in defence. He tracks back, covers and tackles.

Problem is indeed when he has the ball. His anticipation of things is dreadful. He has done that horizontal ball in counter attack at least three times now where the opponent easily anticipates that pass and they get a counter-counter attack.

I had raised concerns about Hakan position the moment we were linked with him.

Sadly i had totally seen it coming. It is a typical Marotta move especially considering our financial situation. Taking a starter from a rival on a free who may (but probably not) fill a need.

But i fear it's a panic buy. And not only because there could be much better market opportunities if we were willing to take a risk and wait for a midfielder from a top club to become available on loan. But mostly because Hakan isn't suited to playing as LCM in a midfield trio. Hakan became a definite starter for Milan when Pioli used him as CAM instead of LCM or LW like his predecessors. Prior to Pioli, Hakan was very inconsistent, average even at his best and he usually was on the list of deadwood Milan wanted to offload.

Using Hakan in a midfield trio can only end up in tears.

You're right it doesn't make a lot of sense to use him as a supporting forward. We already have Sanchez complaining for playing time. Playing Hakan there and having 4 players (Lautaro, Correa, Sanchez, Hakan) fighting for 1 position while options in midfield are already very limited would be silly.

Maybe we could give another try to 3-4-1-2 and play Hakan as AM? It was terrible under Conte but maybe it could be better under Inzaghi? I don't know. But desperate times call for desperate measures. As things stand, midfield isn't working. Hakan has been really poor. Vidal can be a quality sub but he can't start games week in week out. Sensi is broken. Vecino and Gagliardini are simply not good enough to have an important role.

If we want to remain in the fight for top places, we need to figure out how to get things from Hakan.

I thought Vidal did more pressing and tackling off the ball in his first 5 minutes than Hakan did in his 57 minutes on the pitch. I am exaggerating, but thats what it felt like. When Vidal came on, finally it looked like we have 11 players on the pitch instead of 10. It feels like Hakan is hiding behind Sassuolo players when we have the ball, and he is running aimlessly off the ball. Hakan looks lost, just like he did so many times when he played for Milan.

I don't think its just the position, though you are right that he is better suited for a more attacking role. I watch a lot of Milan games, and have commented on this several times. Hakan even in his favourite role as CAM at Milan was very inconsistent - he had so many games where he was invisible - just like he was yesterday. Hakan had a few good derby games, so many at FIF have a hyped up impression of him. Talk to Milan fans if you think I am judging him harshly - most I know were laughing at us when we signed Hakan on 9m salary.

Hakan I fear is one of those kind of players who are suited to be a "star" in a small team, where all attacks go through him and they don't mind his inconsistency as long as he makes them win a game or two every now & then. I had a lot of patience for Eriksen coz we knew his quality. I don't have a similar patience for Hakan, coz he is only playing like he did before.

I rarely disagree with Il Drago, but in this case I do. I hope we don't change our formation to accommodate Hakan - he is too inconsistent to bank upon. I would much rather use a combination of Vidal/Sensi/Vecino as our 3rd midfielder until we can afford to buy a proper one. I can understand changing the formation to accommodate quality players like Eriksen or even Sanchez, just not someone like Hakan.

I think that there is disconnection in the midfield as all of the Barella, Hakan and Brozo has freedom to roam as much as they like. In case of Barella is work as he is much more dangerous in attack than when Conte was here. But for other two the effect is worse. Inzaghi need to find some balance there.

I’m not surprised that there was no big competition for his signature.

Outdated type of midfielder, poor version of Deco or something.

Don't wanna be the one who says "told you so" :D

Was Milans most overrated player. I was OKish with him for free and as backup option from the bench, but hell no as a starter. He has good shot, and is great set piece taker, which can be an advantage. He will get decent number (goals + assists), but in the end, his overall contribution will be invisible man and playing like with a man down when on the pitch.

Definitely wouldn't call "like with a man down when on the pitch". He tracks back and tackles, covers the ground somewhat usefully. He's a body. Can receive the ball. Issue is that his offensive output in open play is counter-productive. If he can't get that working, he's not worth his salary at all.

His defensive display is also overrated by some. He does tracks back, but doesn't do much with that, some tackle and interception from time to time. Of course it's useful when he is a body as you say, i was saying man down just so stress how little he offers, overall.

Hakan has skills under his feet. But the problem is that Hakan is too slow, both in ball handling or thinking. With or without the ball. Hence he would lose every 1-vs-1 duels because his opponent would always be one step ahead.

He is very good at FK or corner kicks because in such situations he has all the time in the world. Or when the opponent grants him free time to think, which is usually not the case.

Damn I hate this season. There are too many arrivals that I disliked prior, but now I must support them because they are Inter's. But they always leave me a bitter taste.

Giving Hakan 5-6m net per season is one. Hiring Inzaghi in place of Conte, just for the sake of continuing his 3-5-2, is one. 31m for Correa or 5m net for Dzeko are also excessive. Then all the difference-makers (Eriksen, Hakimi) left. Only Lukaku 115m and Dumfries 12m are somewhat sensible, but still, not enough to compensate for the current mess.

You have Vito on your ignore list. If you remove him the Barella thread will reappear.

Oh man, how I wish we continued with Conte and the lads without changing anyone. Just when the machine was oiled and ready to crush everyone on the road we had to disassemble it. Fucking hate it too.

It’s why I’m not following us this season/ only checking out the scores but not really giving a fuck. Still an Interista obv but I’m taking a gap year 🤣😂 my life is too short now to blindly follow a team dismantled when it was just about to peak. Too much pride too 🤣 had been working wonders for the stress levels 👌

Forum users who were optimistic about this transfer are either legally blind or they are getting paid by Hakan’s agent to promote this fraud. There’s no other logical explanation on why you could support this transfer

English motherfucker, do you speak it?

On a serious note, we use English here in this forum so let's prefer that.
