He took 39 shots last season and 6 were on target. The only Inter players with a lower % last season were Klaassen, Sensi, and Cuadrado.
Which site did you use? 28 does sound abit low, 39 made more sense but Holy shit, it makes it even worse. I'd wager most of the 6 were probably in the first half of the season.

Man that's dreadful. Worst percentage in the team. It's incredible considering he used to be an AM. Then again it's no wonder he had to play deeper to rejuvenate his career.

Honestly it's not like Barella's attempts were for any praise. Hakan has been quite disappointing as well, but the other two are far more creative. I'm not up to date with percentages, but our midfielders' attempts on goal are just facepalm worthy. Hopefully it's going to change this season, because lack of effectiveness is making us look too predictable in the offensive department.

Barella can't shoot to save his life.

It's crazy at the start of his career he was compared to Stankovic. I love Nico. He's probably my favorite Inter player right now. But his shooting doesn't even get close to Deki's.

I think Barella's issue is lack of composure in the critical moment. His shooting can be a poetry in motion sometimes, but that depends on his mental state at that moment. You can tell when a player lacks proper shooting technique, but also you can tell whether he lacks composure or not.

Barella is quite wasteful in overall, which goes to prove my point that shooting as a whole isn't a problem. My guy tends to waste even these great opportunities inside the box.

There was a period while Barella used to disappear in some certain matches as well. So footballing ability is not an issue, but he's had psychological issues, and fortunately he's overome many of them. Hopefully he works on his cool as too.

Sanchez and Mihki showed me with time and age, your technical skills can deteriorate just as well as your physical stuffs.

P.S. I actually don't mind his horrendous shooting, cause the other aspects of his game is very good and essential to us so far, I never have his running distance stats, but it does not seem low at all, probably one of the highest on the team. Also I don't think it is in any of our game plan that he will be often in the final shooting position.
Normally, it is our strikers then our WB, then Barella then him then Hakan.

It is just shocking that is all.

I think it has to do with the training, they probably spent way more time on training other things than shooting for Mihki, so he no longer knows how to shoot.

I get what you wanna say, but it's not really true.

It's just that when you're used to a certain level of physicality to accommodate your technical skills and suddenly it's not there anymore, it's hard to keep up. And especially when you're getting tired easier and compound that over season after season, and you have a poorer end product. As a result of your physicals deteriorating. It's not like the guy cannot hit a cross or shoot anymore, but adding the extra physical toll makes that an issue in a game. These guys will the same technical skill at 50, that doesn't go away.

Actually I oddly agree with you, I guess I was saying that for dramatic effect.

I think what you said is spot on. Easy to see is Sanchez's first touch when he was doing warm up/training and when he was on field with us.

Only to a certain point, at some point you do loose your agility and fine motor control, just as you loose the near sight of your eyes. Our body deteriorate with age and latest evidence suggests it happens faster in certain stages in our lives.. so yes you will loose technical skills eventually, it just doesn’t happen at the age that you are professional active.

It’s part of getting old and it really start seeing it in your late 40s early 50s and again in your 60s.

I like the dude a lot. I think he has a quality 30-40 minutes per game in him. But Inzaghi will have to give Zielinski some minutes even if he isn't yet in tune with the regulars.

Mkhitaryan must not be a starter for most games this season, poor guy will play worse every week if he is overplayed.

I don't think we're going to integrate Zielinski until we get through the Derby.

That I understand. Altho as long as we keep winning, I really doubt Inzaghi will change anything

I don't see Zielinski replicating a lot of the ball carrying that Mkhitaryan does. He can slot in there, but he's gonna be a different type of player. Just like Frattesi basically isn't to be trusted with carrying the ball and we need to play with one of our midfielders as an off-the-ball kind of player, Zielinski on the other hand is ball heavy, recycle possession and distribute out wide. And shoot, he can also shoot.

In that sense, it'll be hard to see Inzaghi shifting from a winning formula to something that would mix things up, even if Zielinski is a superior player to Mkhitaryan.

And this is why I would have rather let Asllani play as a B2B midfielder and let Zielinski serve as a vice Calhanoglu. But Inzaghi has decided Asllani is a regista, and we're stuck with that.

I am puzzled at how Asllani managed to keep a roster spot this season. We're lucky that the weakest link factor doesn't affect us so much since we're strides ahead of most domestic competition, but this kid shouldn't feature in the CL and with the current setup we'll need more players involved.

I expect him to be shipped to Bologna for Fabbian, then things will make more sense. If Bologna wants him of course...

Barella, Hakan, Zielinski, Frattesi, Fabbian and if Mkhitaryan can still play for 30 minutes a game the way he does, sure, he's got a space.

Spot on. That would be a good arrangement. Mkhi is still top notch when it comes to making that second last pass.
