Boss performance last night. The guy is going to be 36 very soon and is still balling hard. Team's style of play is certainly helping him, but he still deserves utmost credit for being part of a midfield that dominates by far. His tactical discipline is exemplary, but at the same time his ability on holding the ball and distributing it, is pretty damn good.

Such an unique player. No wonder it feels like an impossible task for anyone to outplay him from starting line-up. We keep on saying Inzaghi has to bench him, he's finished and so on, but he's proving people wrong, every single time though.

People are taking him for granted. His absence in the long term will affect team's effectiveness and tactics.

Yeah, as long as he doesn't play every game, he'll deliver the goods. Good on both sides of the field

Correct, but Inzaghi is using him constantly, which is compromising his recovery time. So I wouldn't be surprised if we get another situation a la Dzeko.

Another thing is, Inzaghi is trying to play the same style with likes of Zielinski, Asllani and Frattesi, as he does with his starters, and that's why there's a significant downgrade in term of effectiveness.

It would've been cool if Inzaghi could adopt something different once he makes rotation.

I mean, you cannot demand exact same ball possession and control of midfield with Frattesi in the pitch for example. Or even expect same responsibility in front of defence with Asllani. These players have good characteristics if Inzaghi gets to use them properly. I even said last year, that getting Frattesi to adjust properly in the team will be a difficult task for Inzaghi.

If I roll back the tape I was not enthusiastic about getting Mkhitaryan, Darmian and Acerbi. So I'm 0 for 3. They've greatly exceeded mine ,and perhaps the majority here, expectations. Just wish we could trust our bench a little more because this trio are getting up in age and playing them continuely will put Inter in deep doo-doo as the season progresses.
If I remember correctly I thought Mkhitaryan would be good bench option for us so I was ok with that signing. Everyone said Darmian sucks and I had a feeling he will be solid coming from horrible United. 2/2 I guess. Of course I couldn't even imagine they would be this impactful. On Acerbi...that one I didn't understand at all at time.

Imo should be:

Mikhi - Frattesi

Barella - Zielinski

Hakan - Asslani

But Zielinski being always the first option if one of the 3 starters is out.

He had most assists among Inter players in 2024. 12.

Sadly still among the 3 most underrated Inter players together with Dumfries and Lautaro.

He was very good yesterday, except one shot, where he should have hit the net at least, but otherwise he was perfect. Very solid this season again, I'm impressed. I thought that he will decline

His finishing is tragic.
The real tragedy is that it wasn’t always like this.

Even for Roma, he managed to finish top-scorer ahead of Dzeko.

I think some players just need to play through their bad period to regain form again. Benching him or Lautaro never made sense to me.
It doesn't make sense to bench Lautaro because we have no one capable of producing at his level. Zielinski is a more than capable Mkhitaryan replacement, which is why giving him more minutes made sense.

I'd still like to see more of Zielinski. Let's be honest, Mkhitaryan doesn't have much time left as a key contributor.

That is also true. But even if we had someone of Zielinski level in attack I think I will have the same opinion. Sure, give them more minutes while first option is struggling but don't completely benched them. Some players just need to play through bad period and giving them significantly less minutes would not help with that...that was my point basically.

Doesn't he? To me he doesn't seem to slow down other than his shooting (though he's scored with some nice shots) which was never his greatest strength for us. This is a great problem to have, we have a good competition in mid with Zielisnki
