The problem with older players is that the declines are rapid. Acerbi is a great example - he had poor form at the end of last season and now he can't stay fit, with two different hamstring injuries this season. We have no idea what we'll even be getting when he returns. There are reports Marotta wants to sign a CB in January.

Mkhitaryan might prove to be the Modric-esque exception, but I'm not betting on it.

Another great game from him. The only thing they could stop him at this stage is an injury. His transition and off the ball run are an example for young players. Rarely puts in a reckless challenge but always able to position himself in the right place to block a pass. Not the same style of player as Cambiasso but the output/ effectiveness is very similar

What a fucking boss

I don’t understand how this guy manages to be so critical at the transition game at his age.
Well it looks like you haven’t met too many middle-aged Armenian guys in your life. Chain smoking is usually the key

He really flows through the pitch. Can't shoot outside of the box, but luckily he doesn't have to. Usually we score or win a penalty when he passes the ball into the box.

I think his technical game has compromised for physical game. He's more of a physical minded player now, doing all the job for the team and putting so much energy on recovery and destribution of balls, tactical aspect as positoning, switching roles and so on. When you consume so much energy on these things, it's almost impossible to be as productive in scoring goals. Last season he's had a period while he was underperforming a lot, and people thought he's done, but he keeps proving wrong. He's still an essential player in Inzaghi's Inter.

Looking at his physique you can tell he puts in the work. I have no doubt that there are plenty others in the team to slow down before him.

Yeah, he's certainly one of the hardest workers in the room. He's going to be 36 years old in a few weeks, and is tirelessly putting performances week after week.

Agreed. Had way more freedom in Roma to score.

If he's out Wednesday give me Frattesi-Z-Barella. Let Barella drop a bit deeper to aid in the defensive work with Frattesi getting license to move forward and do what he's good at. Mean no disrespect to Asllani(For once) but Bologna are too good a team to give him the license at holding.
