Not sure about him starting good. We looked clumsy since minute one, especially in midfield, and of course Mkhi wasn't up to his standards. But eventually, Hakan managed to step up and set a spark in the midfield.

Barella was also shocking. Lowkey worst player in the pitch last night, but that's nothing to worry about.

I wish we had someone competitive to take over Mkhi's role now. He's been rubbish for a while now.
He definitely started good. He was main player finding our strikers in the box. Most of the balls played to Lautaro + Arna’s feet came from Miki (as well as our first goal). He also finished the half with a 97% completion rate, by far the highest in the team.

Not sure what came over in second half though.

I dunno, he looked clumsy to me, entire midfield aswell. We had ball possession, which doesn't mean much, but our passing and ideas were so predictable and slow. So these stats and percentages aren't always real indicator of what we've seen in pitch.

He's been kinda disappointing this season generally, which isn't entirely his fault, since he didn't even had enough time to recover during all these intensive matches. If we fail to win any trophy this season, it's almost entirely on our management, because they failed to address these obvious issues which have occoured since last season.

We looked predictable and slow because he was practically the only one making forward passes in the first half.

I agree with second bit though.

Players that are trying to create will fuck up passes more than not. He was great yesterday on both sides!

I do hope he stops overhitting the ball, but that's true for all of our players at this point.

Thuram had flashes of brilliance and scored aswell, but Mkhi's impact last night was immense. You can tell he's one of most intelligent players in our team, if not the most. The way he scans and floats tactically, is for every praise.

Barely put a wrong foot last night. Also on tight positions when looked impossible to excel, he's managed to break stress and deliver proper balls. Seriously, whoever comes, will have a real task of outplaying him from starting line-up, unless his physical condition drops drastically.

Mkhitaryan is under contract until the end of next season, 2025-26, and has hinted that he would like to retire in San Siro. However, there is still a chance that he extends his contract for another year, until the summer of 2027:
“My idea is to finish at a high level, like Inter. Let’s wait until the end of the season, then we’ll see if I stay or leave,” the Armenian said in an interview with Sky Sport Italia, reported via Calciomercato.com.

When asked about the possibility of extending his contract until 2027, which would take him through to the age of 38, Mkhitaryan replied: “Why not? But it depends on my body, how I am and what I can give.”
Some FIFers won't be happy about it
“Everyone thought it would be easy after last year, but football is always different. IT’s not been so easy, and nothing has been taken for granted.

“We’re capable of being able to get to the end of everything. We’re dreaming big, and by going slowly, we can do something great. I hope to write a special chapter in my ‘book’ this season.”
I wish you win UCL this season along with Scudetto bro

I dont mind having him as a bench option but I wouldnt be suprised if he regulary starts at 38. He will definitely if Limone still coach us😃

As he should. None of current backups in midfield could perform better than Mkhi. At least hopefully our management won't let another Dzeko-esque case happen. Playing these oldies constantly will bite us back, no matter how good they are. Mkhi's physical condition is superb, but it will eventually fall apart, but unfortunately our bench is not even close to his level.

It's not only about one or two attributes. Mkhi's impact generally is superior to the rest of bench midfielders. Tactically, intelligence, simplicity, work ethic and so on. Like he's made exactly for Inzaghi's football.

Good luck to any potential Mkhi replacement though.

How this has anything to do with Mkhitaryan though?

He's still at this age one of our most fit and durable players.

As an example, if it was up to either Mkhitaryan or Zielinski next season, I'd be much more comfortable going to the season with Mkhitaryan on the roster than Zielinski. The latter hasn't shown enough to push Mkhitaryan to the bench (/out). So the decision is mostly based can we get rid of Zielinski, who would replace him, rather than Mkhitaryan not having it anymore in him. No indications yet on the pitch, that he would be slowing down.

At this rate he's never going to get replaced. Frattesi nor Zielinski could unseat him and I havent seen us linked to anyone but Paz(Who we know aint happening) that can replace him. Guler is not suitable in the current formation. He is 100% going to be ridden like a camel again next year.

We had Zanetti for longer, so why not Mkhitaryan for two more seasons?

His 1st half performance shows how key would be to have a technical younger version of Mikhy in Inzaghi ball.

He just can't keep it going for 90 mins

The guy still amazing, he's shooting abilities are laughable. Still, no one has even close to challenging him for his starting position in the lineup. So well done, and keep on truckin.
