This thread reminds me of... David Beckham and Man U. In 1990s, Man U and DB were everywhere in Asian states. I watched the first Inter game vs Man U in C1 and saw Nicola Ventola =)). Thats how everything began. It has been 20 years now. Too old to switch.

It's not a choice. We don't pick the teams to support, the teams pick us. Unfortunately.

I thinks it's really hard to explain why you love a team. I can't even understand how I could develop such love for INTER. Win or lose I enjoy watching us play. I enjoy the sport, but I never thought about supporting someone else. I kind of like some teams like atlético Madrid, marseille, Werder Bremen,, but I never felt anything even close to what I feel for INTER. I do have another team which is where I'm from, but like most football lovers that grew up watching European football you'll Have a teams from Europe that you end up becoming a fan of.

Inter fans, we are masochistic so we love the suffering this crazy club brings us.
Gonna bitch about it sure, feel sad, get drunk, but at the end of the day we get a boner for it anyway. It's a crazy beautiful addiction.
Everything transpires on a subconscious level tho.

I have been an Inter supporter since 1991. As I got older and with the development of technology such as the internet and Pay TV in Australia, I have been better able to follow them.

When I was single, I had very little else in my life. Inter were everything and poor results, especially against Milan and Juventus would fuck me off for the good part of a week. I have been very constant in my support for Inter as a club. Over the years, I witnessed alot of shit during games but I have always stuck by them.

I used to watch every game. Even recorded games that I knew we had lost I would still sit through and watch the game because that is what a supporter does. I think there are times that I did that to the detriment of my own psychological well being. For some reason, I used to think that suffering with my team is part of being a supporter.

Admittedly, the post treble years have been the most difficult for me. As you guys would know there have been times when Inter were horribly painful to watch. It may have started with Ranieri and was probably at its worst with Mazzarri. Accordingly, there were times when I stopped watching games but still followed our results.

It's funny I had so much optimism for this season but we have started so poorly. I recorded both of our games against Sassuolo and Torino but I have not watched them. I can't bring myself to do it because it will piss me off.

I do not think that I love or care for Inter less than I did many years ago. I think it is more to do with the fact that my life has changed. I have a wife and 10 month old baby girl. Why should I be rabid when the Shit Cunts that take to the field wearing our colours are so half-arsed? Or why should I be crazy for Inter when Spalletti keeps making the same mistakes when it comes to player selection and the starting eleven? Is one player, Nainggolan, really going to make that much of a difference to this Inter?

The truth be told, I would rather be spending that time with my wife and daughter than sitting in front of the TV cursing our players, our opponents or the referees. Not to mention the fact that the game for me does not end when I have turned off the TV. There have been times when my foul and snappy moods after a poor showing have ruined post match time with my family.

Right now, I feel indifference towards Inter. Before each game, I think about our opponents, who Spalletti might play and will be optimistic that we can get a result and kick start our season. But when I wake up in the morning and learn the results, I feel disappointed and glad that I did not wake up at or 3 or 4am to watch a Shit Show. I have kind of carried over this habit from last season. Or maybe it is simply the fact that I am an old bastard who values his sleep more than watching his shit football team.

We might be back in the Champions League this season and we might have a better team than last season but I am not convinced. I am not convinced because we still have the same psychological frailties and disjointedness that has plagued us throughout the post treble years. The only difference is the playing personnel and coach are different. In my view, the Champions League could well be the stage on which our shortcomings as a team will be exposed on a global scale and that thought does not sit well with me. Despite Spalletti having somewhat steadied the ship and Suning having found new investors, we seem more like past seasons than ever before.

Nicola Berti recently said that the players do not value the colours of the shirt they are wearing. I tend to agree with him and perhaps the saddest thing for me as an Inter supporter is that in many respects, the way I presently feel about the team and the way I am following themis a reflection of the way our players are performing on the field.
This is so sad.I feel sorry for u if u cant be excited for this squad anymore.

I know feeling of indifference really well cause of my childhood club but that situation is on a whole other level.

This is just really sad to me.

"Because if you loved Inter you can't, you don't know, and you don't want to do without it anymore."

It's not a choice. We don't pick the teams to support, the teams pick us. Unfortunately.

That's my quote, stop quoting my cunt, or at least give me credit..cards.

During the Sassuolo game and specially in the second half and while I was staring at the TV fully numb and motionless like a junky after an overdose of horse urine, I had a revelation, after over thinking why oh why am I insanely obsessed with this idea of Inter and football, why did I even started supporting this team I can barely remember anymore? Why is my whole living room is in black and blue with Inter paintings all over it?.... why I'm still obsessed with something that doesn't make me happy any more?

I think the reason is Inter is a religion we're all have been indoctrinated into at some point in our lives, you cant typically just forget it and move on or simply just change it, it stays with you for the rest of your life, even if you decide to stop believing, the remnants of the ideology will be forever a part of you until the day you die.

Inter is not a team in a sport called football, Inter is an idea that over time it digs down to your soul and clings its roots to your veins until it becomes you.

We are all Inter.

I may have misunderstood your post, but here's my take on this: I think we remain loyal to these colors for a combination of reasons, first it's us as humans tend to like cheering for underdogs and on the other hand we also get along very good with nostalgic behavior due to our miserable performance -as a football club- this past decade.

The answer to this question is simple.

You don't, unless you are a masochist.

I don't know how I could stay loyal to Inter. Begin watching Inter's matches a season before Ronaldo join us when I was in elementary school. Somehow that last match of 2001/2002 took part as a reason why I remain a loyal Inter supporter.

The prono does the trick. Good adult movie for relax after another Inter's disappointment is a reliable painkiller :)

Okay I understand that this may be a bit of a :pazzini: :yao2: question but how do you guys stay loyal to Inter, I mean it must be hard for some of yous to watch matches, even online, some have good footballing teams in there own country (I'm born in England, lots of choices), the difficulty of supporting Inter, how do you manage it?
Honestly, I don't know how I handle my love towards Inter ...but as much as I hate myself (sometimes!) for being an Inter fan on other side I love Inter even more than I love myself...

Some kind of sickness I guess :yao2:

Would be a better question towards those who pay for game tickets and regularly go to the stadium; here most of us are foreigners. I turn the channel on twice a week in my free time, buy some merchandise from time to time, but that's not a huge sacrifice.

Imagine go to the stadium during 2012/2013 and see Inter getting trashed by the likes of Siena, Udinese etc. I'd like to know how THOSE people coped

Don't have one.
I really didn't once think oh I should stop watching inter during those banter years, when we were mediocre. I just accepted it and believed with a couple of smart moves we can be on the top again and hey that happened. One of my biggest joys since winning the tripleta was that night when we beat lazio and secured the cl, I celebrated it even more than the scuddetto, which was kinda expected given our domination last year.

What would kinda tempt me to start questioning my passion is if we had a couple of summers like the last one, where we continuously sold our best players, and did one step forward three steps back kinda thing. That shit absolutely destroys and infuriates me in a way that I can't even begin to describe. At least when you are mediocre, there is always some kind of hope on the horizon that we can somehow roll the ball and keep it going, but once you roll it, roll it big, and you destroy it, it's the worst fucking thing ever.
