"El Rey De Copas" is risking relegation. It's happening to some of the biggest clubs in Argentina and Independiente is no exception. On Friday, they tied against Union, leaving them pretty much fucked, and on top of that, their coach Americo "El tolo" Gallego, who didnt want to leave, has been fired by their president. Its an extremely sad situation, that this is happening to all Big Argentinean clubs, it happened to River, San Lorenzo barely saved themselves last season, Independiente is going through it, And if Boca continue this way, I think in a year or two they might have to start worrying.

They have 10 games left with a new coach. Do you think they can stay in the first division of Argie football? (this year there are no playoffs, relegation is direct)

What could be the reason though? And why could it happen to Boca?

You see, in argentina, the relegation system is extremely bizzarre. it acumulates points won through 3 seasons. then, the points won through the 3 seasons, are divided by matches played (114 matches) and the result is the average. teams with the lowest average points are relegated (3).

Take for example, Simeone's river. They were champions, and next season finished last. one of the main reasons river got relegated.

As for Boca, I said they should worry in 1-2 years, because they arent doing very well. If they step it up of course then they shoudnt worry. But River's case showed it can happen to any team.

it doesnt matter if you finish last, if your last 2 seasons were succesful.

Ok lets not exaggerate. Boca made something like 60+ from the last two torneos and they would have to completely get fucked aka do a Banfield to find themselves in relegation fight any time soon.

The only other big team in relegation trouble in the near future is San Lorenzo and even them are doing better. The new system(bottom three relegated w/o playoffs) helps big teams more than anything for example under this system River would not have been relegated.

What is true though is that the Argentinian league is really struggling to produce talent for their own league. Guys are leaving way too early. I mean in these days someone like Riquelme would leave at 19/20 unlike in the past were he stayed and won leagues, Copas and a bunch of stuff. Also the great South American players are leaving straight from their countries in the past many had to go to Argentina to get noticed.

No. I want them to stay but I don't think they will.

The emotional toll its taking on their players is too much. They look like River did the year they were relegated. Even players who are technically sound make mistakes that under other situations it wouldn't happen. I remember River only needed to win one more game for like the last 6/7 games and they couldn't do it. In some games they were even leading and still tied/lost.

Against San Martín de San Juan a team that hadn't won i like I don't know 10+ games just like they lost to Union a team that hadn't won in like 20+ games but still it would be a catastrophe if they don't pick themselves up.

Another team that could be in relegation trouble is Estudiantes. Since Veron retired they've been mid table now they are last and haven't won a game I think.

If you were a non-River fan his meltdowns were hilarious. He had a BIG part in the relegation of River only taking into account people on the field, off course the main reason was the shitty business they did and people stealing from the club.

Ok so now they are looking for a new coach, and the hottest names are : Zielinski from Belgrano, Jorge Fossati, Trossero, Monzon, and Falcioni to a lesser exent.

I dont think it matters anymore. I think they will play in Primera B nacional next season.

Oh I play for Independiente, had no idea we were doing that bad. Perhaps I should stop smoking.
