The prize money nears the World Cup Championship purse, no? I think the WCC purse is five million USD.

( Last one is named to be VfB Stuttgart )

They will compete will in the tournament held in Dubai from January 5 to 7 2008. A total of four matches will be played over two days with a day of rest in between. Matches will be played in one of Dubai’s most prominent stadiums and officiated by international referees and line staff according to Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) rules and regulations. The 2008 edition of the Mohammed bin Rashid International Football Championship sees some of the biggest clubs in the world of football compete for the prestigious Dubai Cup and US $2.5 million prize money. Too bad the cup isnt happening during the Dubai Shopping Festival, would have been better if that was the case for you guys, you get cheaper deals for hotel stays etc..

Anyways here there is no hype about this tournament, bad news is I might not be in town to watch Inter play, but I'm working on it. Getting tickets for the matches shouldnt be a problem. They would be available in plenty even on matchday.

Vieira comeback on ice? Monday 31 December, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Patrick Vieira’s return to fitness could take longer than expected, as the Inter midfielder won’t be attending a January training camp in Dubai.

“It has been a long, frustrating and difficult time because I had one injury after another,” he told French website Sport24.com.

“I would have preferred to pick up one serious problem and know I was going to be out for five or six months then return to full fitness rather than have this series of disappointments.”

Former Arsenal and Juventus star Vieira has made just three appearances this season, the last in the 2-1 Champions League victory away to CSKA Moscow on October 23.

This comes after only 28 games in all club competition for 2006-07 and a succession of injury concerns still don’t seem to be resolved.

The Nerazzurri are heading to Dubai for a mid-season training camp on Wednesday, but it is reported Vieira will not be going with them.

He will continue his intensive physiotherapy and training regime at the Pinetina ground in Milan instead.

Also staying behind are long-term injuries Olivier Dacourt, Walter Samuel and Francesco Toldo, but Dejan Stankovic and Luis Jimenez will fly out in a bid to achieve full fitness.

“There is nothing worse than playing for three games, being out injured for six weeks, returning and getting another injury,” continued Vieira.

“I didn’t lose hope, kept my patience and always thought I’d be back to my best, especially ahead of the 2008 European Championships in June.

“I am following the training regime and if everything goes well I should come back for Inter’s friendly tests in Dubai in January.”

According to the latest reports, that target has already been missed.

Inter off to Dubai for New Year tournament

Inter's 2008 will begin in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. After the Milan derby win and the Christmas holidays, Roberto Mancini and the Nerazzurri will arrive in the Persian Gulf later today following a flight from Milan's Malpensa airport.

Inter Primavera defender Ivan Fatic, midfielders Francesco Bolzoni, Daniele Pedrelli and Luca Siligardi and striker Mario Balotelli will travel with the first team to Dubai, while another group of players will arrive directly in the Emirates.

Inter will train on their arrival, with another training session scheduled for Thursday at the Al-Wasl Stadium ahead of the Dubai Cup, a four-team tournament involving Ajax, Stuttgart and Porto Alegre. The Nerazzurri will face Ajax in the semi-final on Saturday, with the winners to take on either Stuttgart or Porto Alegre in next Monday's final.

Olivier Dacourt, Walter Samuel, Francesco Toldo and Patrick Vieira will continue their injury rehabilitation programmes with daily sessions at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti, under the supervision of fitness coach Gian Nicola Bisciotti.

The organization turned into a bit of a mess so it was difficult to get any info...

The club where they are training so far doesn't know when Inter will show up.

Training sessions are tomorrow 6PM and 9PM Dubai time. They don't know yet which session will be for Inter and if it will be open to the public (but it's easy to sneak into the club). They will know by 12 noon tomorrow.

The airport was crowded and I didn't see anything... maybe I missed them or they were just escorted out the back?

Tickets are AED 25 ($7).

Will definitely post pics...
