Disappointing performance. We started off the right foot, pressing high and taking the game to them, and were rewarded with an early goal. Unfortunately, we pretty much ran out of gas around the 40th minute and ended up merely defending the result for the rest of the game. With our midfield unable to support our strikers - who were almost exclusively fed with long balls - we basically continued to turn the ball over, thus inviting Atalanta in our half and increasing the pressure on our defence. I must say that, from a defensive point of view, we generally did quite well in congesting the last third and blocking all lines of pass for Atalanta. But, as anybody knows, going on full defence is a risky game to play and a fateful mistake is always behind the corner. Honestly, I don't think we could have done much better, as Atalanta players were running circles around ours throughout the second half. Maybe Conte should have subbed Sanchez in instead of Politano in hopes the Chilean might have won us the game with a piece of magic (which was unlikely to expect from a player allegedly on the verge of being sold). At the end, this game yet again highlighted our need for more depth and better players in a few key roles.

Handanovic is my MotM, naturally, as he saved us from what would have been a certain defeat, somehow managing to keep the momentum going in view of the second half of the season. De Vrij and Godin were also generally good in containing Atalanta's forwards, as was Bastoni who, however, marred his performance with a rookie mistake that could have killed us for the day. I'm sure he will learn from it.

Candreva was individually responsible for the goal, but as I wrote above, we had been playing too conservatively for too long not to expect that some of our players would make a mistake sooner or later. I still think he was better than Biraghi, who never seemed to attack with intent down his flank, but ultimately they were both mediocre in my eyes and couldn't cope with Atalanta's wide players.

As for the midfield, Brozovic and Gagliardini put on a solid defensive shift, but our incapability of linking up the midfield with the attack resulted in too many turnovers and allowed Atalanta to take control of the midfield. Sensi should have provided that link, but he is clearly too rusty due to the long absence and needs time to get back in form. He did a few good things in the first half, but then disappeared as the game progressed. Valero did what he could, even though he could have done better in a couple of situations at the edge of Atalanta's box.

Lukaku and Lautaro did their best, and for some 40 minutes you could feel a buzz of excitement whenever they got the ball, as it looked like they could harm Atalanta with their quick combinations. However, as soon as the team started to slow down, they found themselves too isolated and outnumbered to really pose a threat to their defence. Politano was a weird sub to make. I get Conte wanted to bring in someone with a bit of pace and skill in order to serve as a link between our lines and to carry the ball forward, but personally I would have gone for Sanchez.

Well, anyway, that’s the first round of games done and 46 points gained, with only one loss. Tell me any of you wouldn’t have signed in blood for that in August.

Apparently our 3rd best ever start to a campaign.

This and the game against Juve were the worst games in the league games. And the funny thing is that both games started very good.
Against Juve we played a good first half, today it was similar with the diffrence that we don't lost (thanks to Handa).
It anyway still feels like we lost compared to the draw against Roma or Fiorentina. It's not even because of the penalty, we just deserved nothing at the end, only to lose. A draw against Atalanta is good but i expected much more from Inter. The first 30 minutes were amazing but minute after minute we managed to get really poor. Very dissapointing perfomance.

Now Conte, team, Marotta, everyone: If we want to believe in this first place, please at last try to make something. We need to learn from this games but also get someone on the mercato. We are first to play for the scudetto, not to play for the second place!

It's a 92-point pace. For reference, only twice in Juve's eight-season run of winning the Scudetto have they reached 92 points or better (though there's a couple 91's and a 90 in there).

If we were to match that in the second half, you'd hope it's good enough. That's going to be difficult, however, not just for obvious reasons but also because, among the top-of-the-table opponents, we've already played our home game against them. Juve, Lazio, Roma, and Atalanta (2-5), we have to play away to them in the second half of the season. And we only went 1-2-1 in those games, at that. So that's going to be a challenge for the second half of the season. And Atalanta, of course, is our last game of the season, at Bergamo, so we better be in good shape going into that game because g-d help us if we aren't. Gasperini's Atalanta aren't going to lay over for us even if there's nothing at stake for them.

Awful display by at least half the team, especially that 2nd half AGAIN!

Only stand outs were Handanovic, Bastoni and Lautaro.

This game basically is further proof that Atalanta robbed us in the Gagliardini deal. They got rid of him because he simply would never be good enough for their team. He'd hold them back just like he holds us back.

Even if we don't get the top names, we need to get someone guys that are better than who we have now.

- i don't blame Candreva for Gosens goal, it was very oportunistic from the german
- it was 100% penalty against us as Lautaro held back a player, i don't how it wasn't checked with VAR
- rookie mistake by Bastoni but otherwise, he was good, he will learn
- again good refereeing by Rocchi
- we need that extra midfielder ASAP!!!

He was pushed in the back by Zapata, could have been easily FK for us.

You see, the reason why we were outplayed in midfield was because the severe lack of a midfielder who was not afraid to hold the ball. Hence, the constant skipping from our defense to attack, entirely avoiding plays in the midfield. In short, we fucking lacked a BARELLA, a midfielder full of grinta with great technical abilities as well. Gagliardini was scared shitless to even touch the ball, let alone controlling it with his feet. Sensi was still too rusty after a long absence from the team. Brozovic was alright, but he couldn't do it alone in midfield all by himself. He needed somebody who could share the responsibility as well. Valero was surprisingly okay, but he clearly lacked the physical capabilities to compete with the fast and physical Atalanta midfield. If only we had Barella, we could have won this fixture. Fucking come here already Vidal.

To be honest Atalanta have basically robbed everyone. Great management.

There are people who were worried of “redundancy crisis” if Vidal and Eriksen come, while we have Brozo, Sensi, Barella. I hope this match explains why that wouldnt be the case. Sensi, for instance, isnt robot, he is human and he can have a shit day too. Same for Barella & Brozo due to different reasons.

We ALWAYS need world class players even on the bench, so that when one player drops form, another one steps up to fill the gap and gains points. Not fucking Valero or Vescino ffs (theoretically our 6th and 5th choice - but still play). We almost have to collect the maximum points in every match to compete with Juventus, let alone elite clubs in Europe. And the midfield is KEY.

I think the penalty was the softest there is, had to be the softest penalty announced in the campaign so far. But the reason for that was the deserved penalty on Lautaro in the first half that Rocchi might have checked in half time and decided to compensate Atalanta with what came to be that ridiculous penalty against Bastoni.

Still if anyone thinks we've been favored today, for whatever vague reason from Rocchi and his friends, it doesn't compensate 1% of the countless BS refereeing that favored juBe this season so far, heck I think they might have done that just to create an excuse to give juBe 100x favors later on.

This game had Spalletti written all over it. Attitude, approach, 2nd half spent afraid to do anything, absolutely clueless substitutions. I'll take a point but Conte better reevaluate this one. We are playing coppa in two days which is a good thing, they won't have to live with this garbage performance hanging over their heads all week long.

With all the negative comments on this board you think we lost 5-0 at home. Atalanta aren't an easy team to play defend against and Conte recognized it which is why he was extra cautious. In the end a point is deserved outcome. We just gotta see if Roma can extend their unbeaten run against Juve at the Olimpico. Get Eriksen deal over the line so we can properly challenge for Scudetto.

Feels strange to talk about a draw (and almost lose). After the first minutes we were playing really great, i was not worried. This game makes me feel bad, more then the one against Juve. If we lose the scudetto it will be thanks to this kind of games because we played the same way like against Juve and Barca away and we don't want to improve on that, even after 6 months.
