Does anyone have an idea why Inzaghi won't give Tajon a chance, even when we are up by a lot? I don't get it. He seems like an amazing player, with pace which is exactly what we need.

He only knows one word in italian. Its this :

Yeah, clearly not ready.

Only thing that's stopping us from being a truly elite European side is the wasteful finishing. But we create as many chances as any other team, and defend well. This scudetto is 100% deserved. Serie A is not any weaker now than it's been in the last 15 years.

"Wasteful finishing" is one of those universal complaints that every single teams' fans complain about. Many times, it's us overrating just how high some scoring chances were (thinking they were easier than they actually are) while also underrating some of the goals scored from low percentage chances.

Coming into this game, our xG in Serie A was 58.58. Our total goals scored was 63. You can't really be accused of "wasteful finishing" when you're overperforming your xG (although obviously those numbers are in the same ballpark). Even last year, for the complaints that existed...xG was 71.97 for the season, we scored 71 goals, it was about as close as you can reasonably get.

Now, for the CL it is a bit different...our xG there is 14.6 goals, and we've scored 9. Specifically, 2.3 xG against Atleti vs. 1 actual goal we scored in the first leg. I'm blending sources here a bit (the website I use for league stats doesn't seem to have xG CL stats readily available), but if we're about +4.5 in league and -5.6 in CL play...again, it comes out pretty much as close as you can get. What ends up "hurting" is when you overperform the xG in games like @Salernitana (2.3 xG to 4 goals scored) that were easy wins regardless and then underachieve them in the UCL knockouts, but it is what it is.

Will do everything in my power to go to a game before the end of the season. This is historical.

I want to watch Inzaghi's Inter again literally right now.

I agree most of the things you said, but there are things xG doesn't capture, like the score when the opportunity occurs, the pressure/importance of the game, along with some physiological affects. Even the basics, like xG based on the ball and the GK and other defenders position when it occurs, it also doesn't capture where opportunities were not even shot.

I would say there are a lot of bias in fans' eyes, but at the same time, seizing a goal at a big moment requires something that is missed as a parameter variance in this model.

Forgot to mention sometimes scoring a very small xG goal can skew it a bit too, like DiMarco's goal.

Inzaghi looks like he can even send the primavera to bologna and rest the two main squads for the madrid trip

Osvaldo :proud:

A draw here still puts us 10 points clear with H2H in our favour against Juve (and probably Milan let's be honest). We do need to start thinking about conserving energy though; Atalanta (H) - Genoa (H) - Bologna (A) - Atletico (A) - Napoli (H) is a DISGUSTING run of fixtures.
to be honest napoli will be tough if they keep up there good form

mate, you were complete garbage. Even the goal u scored was cause of Inter mistake... You just suck vs big teams, its ok.

Gasperini: “We weren't that bad, unfortunately the match then degenerated into training. We are fine and ready to play the next matches, this one has to be put away. Episodes? Anomalies, perhaps it would have gone differently."

Great post. If we were scoring all our "easy" chances, our goal scoring records would be absolutely ridiculous. Easy chances will be missed, always. It happens everywhere, even for the best ones. That's football.
