PSV is about 2 hours away from my town and I'm thinking about catching the game, but I can't imagine me being able to buy away tickets.

I kinda like our schedule. We should be looking at 2/2 in our opening games and simply need a few more points in the remaining four to get through (let's say 1 vs Barcelona and 3 vs PSV should pull it off). We just need a strong start and for that we need to get the shit right in the players' head. Tottenham will then face Barcelona and with a loss they'll have 0 points after two games and even PSV will look like a mountain to them, and their first meeting is actually in Holland. Imperative that we win that first game! Failure to do so will cost us the qualification.

We have Bologna away (tough game usually but we tend to escape with 3 points more often than not) and Parma at home before that. Including an international break. Enough time to get shit right.

When we beat them back then we had Zanetti and Motta who totally fucked up Messi, now we have D'ambrossio and Vecino.

Messi is going down bitch!

That's quite a group for us. Hopefully, the squad will gel soon and get the mentality on track as well. Good to be back to Champions League, which I will be watching (full games) after a really long time !!

I think it is good that we are in tough group, as only that would push these players to give their all.

Our history with Barcelona is not that great. 2 wins, one of which away, 5 defeats (only one at home) and 3 draws. And a significant goal difference. First game was back in 1959, two big wins for Barcelona (4-0 and 4-2 in Milano) which skew the outcome.

Our history with Tottenham is 2 home wins apiece. All have 3 or more goals involved. I think this year one of the games will have 0-2 goals only.

Our history with PSV is 2 wins, in a group stage some 11 years ago. 2-0 (Zlatan goals) and 0-1 (Cruz) wins.

Tottenham faced PSV only once, both were 0-1 away wins, 10 years ago (same season as our PSV games), where the Dutch advanced on penalties.

Barcelona faced Tottenham once, in 1982. 1-1 draw in London, 1-0 win at home for the Cup Winners' Cup semis. Barcelona won the tournament.

Now the interesting part is the history between PSV and Barcelona.

1978 Uefa Cup semis. 3-0 win for PSV, 3-1 win for Barcelona. PSV won the cup in the end.
1996 Uefa Cup quarters. 2-2 in Spain, 2-3 win for Barcelona in Holland.
1998 Champions League in the groups. Both games ended with 2-2 draws.

Fuck, I miss the old days when teams from all over the place had a decent chance of upset. Stupid foreigners rule and too much money killed the game mostly because Asians and Americans don't have the attention span to learn more than 10 teams...

In this unorthodox table:
1) Barcelona 31 pts 8W 7X 3L
2) Inter 21 pts 6W 3X 7L
3) Tottenham 10 pts 3W 1X 4L
4) PSV 9 pts 2W 3X 5L

I'd pay to see Spalletti's face expression looking at that schedule.

We're only gonna drop points to Frosinone and Genoa.

Inter back in the Champions League. Here's how we fare in this competition historically, including the European Cup.

1st attempt, 1963-64: Winners.
2nd attempt, 1964-65: Winners, back to back.
3rd attempt, 1965-66: Semi-finals, lost to Real Madrid, who ended up winning it for the last time until 1998.
4th attempt, 1966-67: Finalists, lost to Celtic.
5th attempt, 1971-72: Finalists, lost to Ajax.
6th attempt, 1980-81: Semi-finals, lost to Real Madrid.
7th attempt, 1989-90: First round exit, lost to Malmo.
8th attempt, 1998-99: Quarter-finals,lost to Man Utd (fuck the ref, screw Schmeichel...). This was the first time we participated in the Champions League.
9th attempt, 2000-01: Did not qualify, lost to Helsinborg... (fuck Lippi!)
10th attempt, 2002-03: Semi-finals, lost to Milan on aggreggate... (fuck the post)
11th attempt, 2003-04: Group stage exit, unstable performances in a group with Arsenal, Dynamo Kyiv and Lokomotiv Moscow.
12th attempt, 2004-05: Quarter-finals, lost to Milan. Fuck Merk btw..
13th attempt, 2005-06: Quarter-finals, lost to Villarreal on aggreggate. Don't even wanna remember.
14th attempt, 2006-07: Last Sixteen, lost to Valencia on aggreggate. Don't even wanna remember either.
15th attempt, 2007-08: Last Sixteen, lost to Liverpool. Definitely don't want to remember.
16th attempt, 2008-09: Last Sixteen, lost to Man Utd. Two headed goals at the start of two halves killed us, unlucky performance but not as frustrating as the previous three.
17th attempt, 2009-10: Winners
18th attempt, 2010-11: Quarter-finals, lost to Schalke. Another one to not remember...
19th attempt, 2011-12: Last Sixteen, lost to Marseille on aggreggate. Already forgotten about it.

honestly I'm kinda thrilled that Inter is back. Ofcourse this group has a big chance of a major assfucking, but my god this beats the thursday evening games against the likes of Stjarnan and Neftci. I'm hoping for the best and I just want to see my club win, man
