We need Stankovic so bad for this match. Cambiasso will get eaten alive if he plays in this match. In Cambiasso-Zanetti duo, Zanetti at least has some upside which can be useful in this kind of match. He can push forward with the ball sometimes and he's physically stronger and can cover the space. Cambiasso has only eye for opponent's passes but they can beat him by simply dribbling past him. Cuchu is simply too slow and weak in matches like this, Napoli game showed that quite well.

I'm sure Ancelotti watched the match yesterday and he has pretty good view on how Inter is stopped.

I know we are all hopeful of Deki returning, and maybe he may have an impact. But earlier in the season with Deki, Zanetti and Cuchu.....noneof them were upto CL tempo. So I am really not sure if Deki will be a big upgrade on Cuchu!

We will have to play with 4-2-3-1, since the 3 behind the striker seem to be our most creative and can play at CL tempo and JM will have to instruct them to do a lot of back pedalling, which is why Eto'o will have to start the game to do the running and not Balo.

You are right that Stankovic is not up to the CL tempo. But he's still better than Cambiasso in a match where you need strength and fighting.

i stopped feeling good about this match after Parma's match ... our midfield is poor, as simple as that .. Chelsea's midfield is waaaaay better than ours ... we don't have anyone of the 3 MFs better, or even close to, anyone of Chelsea's 3 ... we don't have Deki for it, we don't have hope..

No one is saying Stankovic is a top midfielder, or anywhere near that.

It's just that he's far better than Cambiasso who cannot at all play in a game like this, at least his work rate is higher than that of Cambiasso's.

If Stankovic is not fit enough for this game, I think Mourinho will play Motta instead, which he has done in the past 2 CL games, replacing Cambiasso's spot.
