Taremi has to play more. The man is hungry! Feed him goddamnit!

Subs got minutes and delivered, plenty of rest to others. We have 4 points after 2 games, which is a great start to 15pts chase.

I want Arsenal scalp. Inglorious bastards style. So the AFTV guys can return to England in shock

Now Torino, lets get that 1st spot which is normal proceedings for the current champs.

We need to win against Young Boys and get the minimum of 4 points against the 3 clubs that come after that - Arsenal, Leipzig, Leverkusen.

Let's say we manage that and we have 11 points after 6 games.

After that we have Sparta Praha (W) and Monaco (D) and that's how we get 15 points.

Of all the teams that we will play, I reckon City and Arsenal will end up top8 as well.

Hope I am a mile off here but I'm not getting the impression Taremi will score a lot of goals this season - he's barely had a shot in anger this campaign so far - however that doesn't mean he can't be really useful and that physicality he showed last night is something the team has lacked since Lukaku (first time around). I can't help thinking that simply from a complementary perspective that him and Martinez might prove be the best partnership up front as they do have different styles.

Flattering score last night. Red Star matched us for pace and intensity for an hour and only then faded and made errors which Taremi took advantage of. Some insipid performances - Pavard, Carlos Augusto, Miki, Asllani when he came on. Not seeing any value in this new development of playing Bisseck as the LCB either. He's not confident enough on his left to surge forward which he does to great effect on the other side.

Still don't understand why Martinez did not start in goal. He's an expensive player who evidently is seen as the long term number one, so he needs minutes and games against the low-ranked clubs in the CL at home seem obvious ones for him to be involved with.

How is the 15pt benchmark calculated? Let's see our competitors for top 8:
- Arsenal Liverpool and City from PL
- Bayern Dortmund and Leverkusen from Bundesliga
- 3 Spanish giants
- Juventus
11 teams for 8 spots. We should do better than three of them to reach. So one win vs one big team e.g. Leipzig only shouldn't be enough.

15p might not be enough, but it could be enough. If we can avoid losing, that helps automatically since it avoids giving our rival 3p. All those teams will probably not get minimum 15p anyway.

Leipzig home should be a win, will be hard (Sesko on fire etc), but totally doable. Arsenal at home, even harder, but if we play perfectly, totally doable. Draw seems an okay-ish outcome I guess. Leverkusen away is the tough one, but seeing Milan being able to challenge them there gives us hope we can draw them, even win if we're perfect. Of course everything depends on the circumstances, how we're doing when these matches are in our calendar, same for the opponent, all the injuries etc.

City away draw was cool and allows us to basically lose one match. But two losses is not acceptable, unless we win the rest of our games (so no draws anymore).

Based off football manager, alone, 15/16 points should roughly be top 8. We will see what reality looks like

Cool thing what I read after the match how Bastoni and Inzaghi both mentioned about the goal difference. That they've realized it's actually really important in this format since many teams might end up at same points in key positions in the standings (for us it's the 8th spot basically). So pounding the opponent to the ground becomes important if there's a chance to do that.

Of course you'll never risk the result, but let's say the game is 3-0 and it's totally in control. You keep trying to get goals if possible, since it might pay off in the end.

Good that they know that. Sucks for the minnows, but there you go.

City, Real, Bayern will go through no matter what, that's the top3. Our main competitors for the top8 spots are Milan, Arsenal, Leverkusen, Atletico, Barcelona, Liverpool, Dortmund, Juventus.

Since this is a new format, some teams might not have the intuition on what to look out for and to always be scoring goals.
