Yes, he's done nothing in all the 5 minute cameos he appeared in.
What about those games after the corona break he played a lot. How about that?

I hope Eriksen will set three world on fire this season, but last season he was at best a bench player. Just because some people think he is amazing means squat once he enters the field.

Whenever he played in Europe he usually was amongst the best player in the pitch.

Whenever he played in Italy, our entire setup seemed off, as if Conte had no idea of what to do, as if Eriksen is some out of the box player that cannot fit in our structured system.

I wouldn't rush to put the blame on Eriksen, especially when the reasons for him not playing more regularly seem rather obvious.

I think saying he was amongst best in those is a big stretch.

As to why that is the case, there might be multiple reasons, but it seems as if whenever Eriksen plays he is God incarnate and Conte is not playing him for the fucks of it. That's what I got in all match threads, especially with "Eriksen on in 89 minute lol". I don't know what player those people watch but it was not Eriksen to complain why he plays do little.

It was similar to Agoume. Then he got his shot in one of the games, and he completely disorganised our midfield when he came in.

Honestly, I don't really like these discussions here because people seem to...appreciate very different things from football players.

I've seen Lukaku have the shittiest of halves or games, then read here that he was amongst the best, only because they like him a lot.
I've seen people shit on D'Ambrosio, Candreva, Brozovic, Lautaro and others when in fact they either were quite stronger than their peers or actually even good in those games, only because they don't like them as much as they like other players.
I've seen Handanovic be on god mode while lots of people complain about him for invalid things.

The Eriksen situation at the moment is polarizing because people who shit on him just believe that the coach knows best, while the majority of the rest believe that the coach just has no clue of how to use him or that he is indirectly hinting at the management that he wanted someone else instead. Truth is, Eriksen has been more than okay. His contribution overall has been positive in the brief moments he had the chance to show his worth.

I wonder what the midfield will be.

My guess is that we’ll see:

- - - Lukaku - Martinez
- - - - - - Sensi
Young Brozovic Barella Hakimi
- - Bastoni de Vrij Skriniar

De Vrij is suspended. Probably Bastoni goes central and Kolarov left. Wonder if Skriniar plays, too.

Sure, there are cases of coaches "not utilizing the players at their best". But where is the line between that, and a player simply not suiting to the formation and tactic? A team is living organism, you adjust it towards one player, you might hurt in the process 3 others who play great.

Second... how can you be sure the player plays not great because of the coach. Can't he be that because of hundreds of other reasons, like new league, like being homesick, like not being in the best fitness condition etc? Saying "player is that because of the coach" is hard to prove. You would have a case if he was on fire just before coming to Inter and playing in totally different position, but he was not as good for Tottenham for a while, and at Inter he played at his best position.

I think saying that Eriksen played at least ok whenever he played is foolish and is not backed by any source I've seen outside these forums.

Not today.

I only see that much cries about Eriksen not playing here on the forums.

Probably from the same people who thought Barbosa is kept on bench because the coach doesn't like him, not because he is simply not good enough.

Believe what you want. I'm sure in 10 years I will read here that this idiot Conte kept the second player in a Maradona '89 form on the bench. The moron.

I'd rather see Skriniar plays in the middle and Bastoni sticks with the left. Having Kolarov-Bastoni-DDA would only mean:

- Bastoni will become a backup for De Vrij
- Kolarov will be a guaranteed starter throughout the season
- Skriniar will become a backup to both DDA and Darmian (as RCB)

Hardly a great sign

Actually I think the coach is able to change the starting defensive lineup from what he picks in the first game, we should be ok.

I don't think that will be a long term solution, but for this game most probably. One realistic point can be that indeed Skriniar will be benched by D'Ambrosio even after Viola game.

Probably Conte will stick to what worked at the end of last season with Gags being main figure and just add Hakimi, but I still hope.

Handanovič ; Škriniar - De Vrij - Bastoni ; Hakimi - Barella - Brozović - Perišić ; Eriksen ; Lautaro - Lukaku.

This is a safe lineup for Conte. Perhaps he'll use Brozo instead of Sensi in a normal 3-5-2 without that attacking midfielder, but thats my guess. Eriksen and Perisic would surprise me.

Handa
Dambro Bastoni Kolarov
Hakimi Barella Gagliardini Young
Sensi
Lukaku Lautaro

It would be a bit surprising for me if Conte started Young on the left as he only used him on the right in the preseason. Then again he may choose to play it safe against Chiesa so who knows. As for the midfield, i believe it will depend on Vidal fitness. If he's ready to start, i am expecting a Barella-Vidal duo. Else Gagliardini will probably start. I wouldn't be surprised with either Sensi or Eriksen starting in the trequartista role.

What is all this 3412 bullshit again? The times we played 3412 against actual professional, adult teams, we looked like utter shit. Unless some miracles have occurred during preseason, I do not accept some thrashings of Serie F teams as a good measuring stick. Just play the fucking 352.

I agree with you. I had mentioned in a previous post the 3-4-1-2 experiment didn't work and we should stick with 3-5-2. But Conte only tried 3-4-1-2 in preseason so we're making our predictions based on that. Perhaps he believes it could work with Barella-Vidal duo though i doubt it. Our midfielders are more suited for a midfield trio imo and the midfield trio gave us more balance last season.

I think we’ll see Ranocchia in the middle.
