Mou confirmed that Milito, Sneijder, and Lucio will all play. Looks like the ban will be the next two fixture instead of the one against Parma (Lucio's case)??

Once a ban is issued, the matches do not change. Lucio is banned for the Parma match, and Sneijder is banned for the Parma and Cagliari match. No matter how many delays or cancellations there are, the bans will be held on those matches.

Plus this is a Coppa Italia match. Lucio and Sneijder were sent off in a Serie A match, so the ban applies only to Serie A matches...

Krhin won't start in this match, he just returned from injury and this is the first game he's been called after that injury.

Cambiasso, Zanetti and Motta started against Juventus. Maybe at least one of them is rested for Cagliari match since I believe those are gonna start in that match.

However it's interesting Milito is going to start. He should get all the rest he needs. But maybe Mourinho thinks that Milito starts and that way we can get a lead so he can be taken out in the second half and not the other way around by introducing Milito later to help taking the lead.

I don't want Milito playing 90mins, we need him fresh in this tough month (Cagliari, Parma away, Napoli away, Sampdoria, Chelsea)
Milito already was rested versus JuBe. He only came in second half to get the result, but he did play only some minutes, not full 90.

Yea, thanks for the explanation Vito. I know this is a Coppa match so I was trying to say we can rest Lucio here if he is not banned against Cagliari match.

Mourinho names squad for Inter v Fiorentina

APPIANO GENTILE - José Mourinho has named a 21-player squad for Wednesday night's 2009/10 Tim Cup semi-final first leg against Fiorentina at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan's San Siro district (kick-off 20:45):

Goalkeepers: 1 Francesco Toldo, 12 Julio Cesar, 21 Paolo Orlandoni.

Defenders: 2 Ivan Cordoba, 4 Javier Zanetti, 6 Lucio, 13 Maicon, 23 Marco Materazzi, 25 Walter Samuel, 39 Davide Santon.

Midfielders: 7 Ricardo Quaresma, 8 Thiago Motta, 10 Wesley Sneijder, 11 Sulley Muntari, 15 Rene Krhin, 17 MacDonald Mariga, 19 Esteban Cambiasso.

Strikers: 22 Diego Milito, 27 Goran Pandev, 45 Mario Balotelli, 89 Marko Arnautovic.

I'm happy that I'll see Mariga against Viola, I would like to see him as starter but I doubt that it will happen, and I'm a bit surprised since I see Krhin called-up for this match, he wasn't called-up with our first team for long time ago.. maybe it's time to be back with nice appearance.

Let's hope for the best!!

I do not think it will be that much of a surprise. What better way to test out our new signing? A 2-legged Coppa Italia match against a CL team. Even if he does not perform well and we get a draw or a loss, we can go all out in Firenze if we wish and still advance to the final with a win!

I think it would be a very good idea to start him in this match...

Are you sure about this? Since I do not have any fact info about the situation. I thought it would go that bans apply for the next matches no matter which they are.

I am not 100% sure. But think about it.

Imagine Inter leads Milan by 1 point with 2 matches left. Milan and Siena. In the Parma match the week before, Sneijder and Milito picked up red cards. They are banned for the Milan match.

In a plot to get them to play the match, the Inter Ultras do something to the pitch to deem it unplayable and the game must be postponed until after the Siena game. So now Milito and Sneijder are banned for the easy Siena game and they will be able to play in the crucial match on the final day.

I know this is all theoretical, but I hope it makes sense. In order to prevent anyone attempting to cheat, the ban applies to certain matches no matter how many times they are postponed.

Once again I am not 100% sure, but I am pretty damn sure that they do it this way. It is the only way that makes sense!

If a player is banned for next leg (or two in Sneijder case :D ) he won't play next leg, no matter when it is played, so I think their bans won't be postponed.

I do get what you meant there but I don't think that it would be applied in such a manner. The good news is that the postponed Parma game won't be a problem for us, as it will be played next Wednesday (Feb 10), which would mean that we would be playing 2 league games before the Napoli game:

21 Sun, Jan 24 2010 20:45 Inter - Milan
22 Wed, Feb 10 2010 20:45 Parma - Inter
23 Sun, Feb 7 2010 15:00 Inter - Cagliari

24 Sun, Feb 14 2010 20:45 Napoli - Inter

Which means that he will still be available for the Napoli game, like he should had been before the Parma game was postponed.

I am not sure though and that's why I want to believe you BUT it would be so weird, aint it ?

Exciting to see the names of Krhin and Mariga!
I doubt either of them will start, but I hope both are introduced at some point.
I think both have had a good week in different respects.....Mariga --> Inter transfer and possible UCL action within the 1st month! Khrin --> great statements by Inter and should be a shot in the arm and should motivate him to play better.
Looks like Eto'o has not yet recovered from African nations cup, any news if it is fatigue or if he picked up any injury?
PS: I think I know the answer, but do you think the arrival of Mariga will have any effect on Harry Potter's game?
