This is the type of game we would have lost last year. Glad the boys were able to ride the wave and find a way to win even though it wasn’t pretty. Results like this can help a team grow more sometimes then just steam rolling a team. This was a really tricky match, La Liga teams are always dangerous in EL and Getafe needed this to save their season.

Should also be mentioned Getafe hasn’t played for 17 days and in that time we played 5 games if I’m not mistaken. That whole time they were just preparing for Inter.

Conte should have given at least 1 minute to a youngster like Pirola, just to show them how it feels to win these kind of games.

Exactly what I was thinking; in the past few games we seem to have gotten better at absorbing the pressure of the opponents after taking the lead. However, there was a period of time during the second half, about 10-15 minutes prior to their penalty, where they started to get dangerous and had us cornered. I kept thinking that Conte needs to make a defensive-minded substitution in the midfield in order to regain some initiative. And then I realized that we had no one on the bench... maybe Skriniar could play as a DM until we get someone for the role? Our team looks imbalanced at times without a proper DM in such specific moments of high pressure from the adversary.

Anyways, I for one am quite nervous for the next game against Leverkusen. I have a hunch that if we manage to win against them, we can go all the way!

Well Godin really showed why he is being played instead of Skriniar.

I thought I might write a few words about our game against Getafe.

In the last few games that I have watched Inter play, I feel the team has been more settled and composed and they have executed better. I thought the first 10-20 minutes of the game were a bit of a struggle for us after which we appeared to weather Getafe’s bright start to the game and then started to impose our own game.

Personally, I feel a back three of Bastoni, De Vrij and Godin, who I admittedly do not like very much, looks solid. More solid than any back three that has included Skriniar. In relation to the latter, I love and rate him highly but he has often looked out of his depth this season. When he came on towards the end of the game against Atalanta, I thought he might put in a safe performance but even with limited minutes left to play he managed to get turned by an opponent that got in behind him and had no means to catch him. It was embarrassing to watch. He is simply not well matched to Conte’s system.

Godin’s handball in the box was a giveaway. Every time I see a replay of it, I can not help but wonder what he was doing with his hand up. I feel that if that penalty had gone in, things would possibly have become complicated and a little shaky for us. I am glad that did not happen and still have mixed feelings about Godin being an Inter player. There have been times this season when he has been quite ordinary but I feel that he has improved towards the back end of the season.

Bastoni and D’Ambrosio did well. For me, they were our players of mention. I thought Lukaku’s goal was well earned and taken but his second half miss towards the end of the game was atrocious. I am not sure if I am more disgusted that he did not score or whether I am more pissed that he failed to even test the keeper. Sometimes, he can be so good. But other times, he can be pretty useless and frustrating. After the miss from the six yard line (or thereabouts), the cameras went to Conte and were focusing on how disappointed he was about Lukaku’s miss. For me, Conte’s disappointment pretty much summed up the way I felt about Lukaku at that moment.

Our midfield worked hard as a unit but I would not say that Barella, Brozovic, Young and D’Ambrosio had stand out games. They were just solid and all put in hard shifts.

Martinez had some promising moments but largely wasted them by being too keen to test the keeper and too selfish to set up his teammates. As for Alexis, it would have been nice for him to score the one-on-one he had with the keeper instead of electing to try and chip or lob him. Having said that, the way he reacted after missing that opportunity (angrily hitting the pitch) was enough for me to be satisfied that he really wanted to make a difference and contribute. I think he should start in the next game in front of Martinez.

Lastly, there was Eriksen. Admittedly, he is not my favourite player but I am glad that he came on and scored immediately. The moment he took to the pitch, he was switched on. I liked how our players gathered around him after the goal. I hope he can do more of the same in our remaining games.

I do not think there were really any stand out performances from our players. The score should have been at least 4-0 but I am pleased that we got through the game without conceding and that we put to bed a very shit opponent. Perhaps, the most important aspect of the match against Getafe is how we managed and controlled most of the game. In saying that, it is important to acknowledge that Leverkusen are going to be real test and we are going to have to really step up our game from this morning’s pedestrian performance.

Love you guys! (even Firmino)

FORZA INTER!

is this sarcastic?

While Godin looked good against Atalanta and defensively he was ok against Getafe, he almost misplaced every pass and made it easy for them to retain possession. The guy misplaced passes with absolutely no pressure on him.
not gonna mention the penalty because that could happen to anyone

This last sentence got me by surprise xP

It was. ;)

I just want so see Skriniar instead of Godin. I know Skriniar isn't having his best season but Godin isn't showing why he should start over Skriniar.

The best player for the RCB spot we have is D'Ambrosio. And the worst option for RWB position is D'Ambrosio.

I hope that gets fixed in the next match.

In the first 20 minutes we suffered the Gefate aggressivity, after that we imposed our own game on the match. We managed the match with solidity i think.

The penalty was ridicolous! Godin was falling down, he hadn't control of his hand during the fall... Fortunately Gefate failed the penalty...

A special mention for Bastoni! Even if he is very young, he plays like a boss and is perfect as LCB in this Inter! Good job!

Anything as long as wee don't call him Cucu. I am not sure what was more annoying yesterday, the hair or the constant shouts of "Cucu Cucu" throughout the game. BT had no fake crowd noise.

Jokes apart, he looked like a good player for LW. I am not sure he is or can be defensively good enough for LWB.

Is it now 5 consecutive clean sheets? :notbad:

yesterday we can say what ever we want about Inter perfomance but you don't have to forget that Getafe had 2 weeks pause and Inter played 4 games in 15 days. And we saw that in the last minutes.

Has 88 potential on Fifa let's buy him.

When we meet Barca next time he'll be motivated. He is their fresh reject, just recently signed for Getafe permanently.

Yes it is 5th consecutive clean sheet.

Like with most things in life, too much of something is not always the best. Getafe might have had more time to rest, but after enough days of recovery you quickly start hitting some diminishing returns. We on the other hand, had more games to play, less time to recover but played better football and were mentally stronger than them. I believe playing a lot of games in recent weeks will actually give us the upper hand against more rested teams.
