Regarding Dumfries and Dimarco, I don't think that's the case at all. Dumfries started with Dimarco in the beginning of last season almost every game until he got injured against Napoli, missed like the next 3 games and basically lost his spot to Darmian.

Well actually, ever since Dumfries joined Inter, he was never an undisputed starter, except of some periods while he performed very well. He's played more in the earlier phase, but the guy was never in the same status of starting line-up like Dimarco is. Lack of creativity, consistency and also decision making has been a major factor, although he's got some good attributes that helped Inter to achieve success.

Like I mentioned in the episode he played a lot in the first part of the season until he got injured. And after that didn't play consistently anymore because of the nagging injury (he has mentioned this after the season how he suffered of it).

Darmian is a more steady hand. Dumfries on a good day is obviously much better going forward. However, he makes mistakes that Darmian just doesn’t. Perfect example being the away game at Juventus last season where he turned the ball over in midfield with no pressure and it resulted in a goal.

Darmian is better in possession and more attentive defensively. Thats why he’s still starting over Dumfries despite the obvious physical limitations.

Right, I was just responding to Irfan's claim on the podcast that Inzaghi probably doesn't play Dumfries because he'd prefer to pair Dimarco with Darmian, but i don't think that's the case.

That Dumfries didn't have a market this summer despite playing one of the most talent-starved positions in the sport says something about him.

That he can't consistently get starting appearances over mid-30s Matteo Darmian says something about him.

The guy isn't as good as he thinks he is.

I wish we could be in position to upgrade that spot one of these days. It's so depressing to think about this current Inter team but with Hakimi playing there instead.

Good episode. I do have to pushback on Jae a lil bit. I think Palacios was brought so that Dimarco has a proper sub in Augusto which makes sense now that Buchanan is injured. Yes, Palacios won't really play but at least he's young and cheap, we can't just go for every free 29+ year old.

The Martinez signing is the one that befuddled me. If we really only have money to possibly fix two positions out of three (CB, LCB/LWB, RWB), why use the money for a fourth position now?

Liked the episode. Having Arnautovic as fourth striker, could be worse it may have been Correa. He also has the benefit of added comic relief, but when the match is pretty much done and dusted. Probably get out of the group in the CL but not enough squad depth to make a deep run. Take issue with gardner aspect, steady on, but you are correct.
