If you've not been exposed to years of @Universe's posts on FIF, I get why you would be baffled by him on the podcast. But those of us who have grown to love his unhinged rants on the forum, also appreciate them in spoken form.

I can understand that defensive rigidity from one season to the next isn't the easiest to maintain. We only conceded 22 goals in 38 games last season. The stat about how good we were (for most of the season) in keeping the lid shut in the final 15 minutes. We were so resolute in those areas defensively that trying to repeat either of those was likely asking too much. Defense requires so much mental focus, staying switched on at all times game after game, tracking runs, holding the line, all that kind of stuff. It's difficult to maintain a high level year-over-year.

The much bigger problem I'm trying to figure out is that we have exactly the same players in our defensive ranks this year that we did last year. There were no signings, no departures. It's all the same players. So why does the chemistry seem so off compared to last year? Chemistry shouldn't be something that degrades with time. This might be the most frustrating thing to me.

The world's most optimistic Inter podcast breaks down the draw against Juventus in a rational, thoughtful way that gives full credit...to Juventus.

Anything to satisfy the demanding customers :D

It was a summer of international football. Players didn't get rested as much as the previous summer. Also winning the title can make you complacent and make you think you're invincible.

Nice down beat episode, I was in the process of recovering, but after listening I feel a relapse coming on ;). All you points given today are valid, but the mephitic attitude by the players, once the 2 goal lead was realized was deplorable. Let's give the criminal organization credit though, they never gave up. As for Empoli match it's away so it will be dreadful with 1-2 victory late.

Idk about that Lautaro comment. Even when Lautaro didn't score, he'd still contribute one way or another. This start of the season is a weird one, he's completely useless when he doesn't score.

Liked your take on the Venezia match, the missing of golden opportunities to score and the acid flash back defensive abilities late are indeed worrisome. The Arsenal match is tough one to call, given I don't know which Inter will show up. Would love for Inter throttle them, but it won't happen, probably a draw with Arsenal tying it up late.
