Nice episode, especially after the very optimistic outlook following the Arsenal match. It's the strikers being off the boil, and Inter have no viable options. Moreover, not having Augusto as a sub is crippling as well. It's like when Lautaro and Thuram are off, they at least are above sealevel, while the bench options are Mariana trench level. It's Napoli's to lose imo, Inter has to play the current nearest opponents away, and that's always tough. Juve is the dark horse, let's see what the criminals do during winter transfer, while Inter will do nothing.

Something a little different for this international break. @CafeCordoba and I talk with Bernhard about the state of the club's finances. A lot of complaining about Correa, and some optimism for the future.

Nice financial overview, couple with very optimistic predictions for the near future. Always knew that Arnautovic and Correa were a drag, but monetarily crippling as well...Yikes!. Agree that the Oaktree's strategy is to find "diamonds in the rough" during the summer transfer windaow. The pivotal move is to start construction on the new stadium prior to selling the club at a profit for their investors.

We'll learn a lot about OakTree when we see how much of the Arnautovic and Correa funds they reinvest in the club.

There was an article on Gazzetta yesterday that Oaktree consider Inter wage bill too high and they want to focus more on young players with lower salaries. We will find out about Oaktree's real strategy next summer.

When i see our wage bill compared to our rivals i can't really blame them.

A big part of this is because we have spent so little on transfer fees. Jonathan David would be the same story.

There needs to be some level of investment in the club. You cant slash our wages, give us no transfer budget, and expect results on the pitch.

Absolutely. And that's the problem with Oaktree. If you want to start a youth project you need to invest. You can't expect results if signings like Bisseck and Palacios become the norm and not the exception. In other words, totally unproven players.

Even Elliott invested a lot of money at Milan despite having a salary cap. Youngsters may have the upside of lower salaries but they cost a lot in terms of transfer fees. If they're not willing to invest their project is doomed to fail and club will suffer in terms of revenues.

We just gave Lautaro a massive deal, we gave Barella pretty big deal too, at the start of summer when Oaktree was on board already.

I just find it hard to believe we would start now shedding the salary budget, when we've just locked our core for long contracts in the near past including two talismans within the last 5 months.

I mean, maybe the shedding is minors, we increase the amounts of younger players who earn a bit less. But hard to see some serious salary cutting unless Oaktree want to go full retard from the position where Inter are now.

This latest episode just explained how we might be at break even position next summer already. To me that Gazzetta story is sensationalism for now.

Yeah. I think so too. So far there's no sign they have put a salary cap or anything. They covered the financial loss themselves with capital increase, they didn't demand any sales and they didn't block any renewals. We even invested a bit in the market for the first time in ages. They have only blocked signing of older players with no resale value so far.

I don't exclude anything but no one really knows Oaktree plans as their first summer was one of transition. Everyone is pretty much in the dark regarding Oaktree strategy and we can only speculate.

I don’t know what was going on with Bisseck, but Barella was pulling him away, while Mkhitaryan was putting his hand up to the Verona fans to apologise.

I think racism is a safe bet.

Also “Correa Truthers” cracked me up.

Our consensus is they were upset celebrating when we were already winning by so much. I'm with you, though.

Liked your takes on the Correa and Asllani's shock and awe show. Interested to see if Correa does get more playing time. Leipzig match is a classic "trap game" with Fiorentina on the horizon. Predicting a draw in this one, unfortunately

Y’all can relax now. The insightful, mature, financial examination is mercifully over and it’s back to hardline, borderline extremist hot takes.

The highlight of this episode is Irfan noticeably yawning a few times.
