That's a 10/10 kit without the sponsor - and even those 3 lines only bring it down to a 9/10. The name and number in blue is *chef's kiss*.

Will be copping ASAP, it's payday friday.

Our logo reminds me way too much of Marseille's on the away kit.

I liked the 2010/2011 away kit a little more. This one, sponsor aside, has too much going on.

The 10/11 away shirt is undefeated. That said, I like both kits a lot at the moment. I don't want to buy both but I'll pick one (probably home) at the end of the transfer market. Uni's sold me on the more expensive version definitely.

No, because the original design was actually a long turd rather than a snake. When they decided to change it to a snake, they forgot to change the turd.

I hated the 2010/2011 kit and feel the same about this one. It is meant to be a football jersey not Mortal Kombat arcade game.

Away shirt would have been good if the serpent/dragon HAD A HEAD...

Lazy. Very lazy work. I know exactly what the designers would say, they would say not showing the head gives it a mysterious quality and is more tasteful or whatever. Reality is those bhenchods either didn't have the talent to design a head that looked good or they just couldn't be fucking bothered

Can you please take the time to explain how design works?

When I lay a cable, my poo has a head. But it’s not like the head of a snake.

Well I know how to draw a snake/serpent, they have a head. so apparently I know more than them
The post I replied to said the reason it didn't have a head was:
  • Lack of talent (yes, I'm sure Nike, one of the most acclaimed design teams in the world, does not have the know how to draw a serpents head)
  • Couldn't be bothered (yes, I'm sure Nike one of the most acclaimed design teams in the world, wanted to include a head but just couldn't be bothered)
The reality is, they chose to not include a head. I am sure there were drafts with a serpents head, and they chose to go without. Maybe it looked better with a head, maybe it didn't (we don't know!).

These things are not done by one person. Design at the corporate level involves tons of bureaucracy and stakeholders. These stakeholders can make the designers change the design, sometimes to the design's benefit, and sometimes to its detriment.

There are no accidental decisions at big design firms. Someone made the choice not to include a head, I'm sure they had a reason, get over it. It looks great without.

Well I disagree that every single thing Nike does makes sense or isn't lazy just because they're a big company. Totally disagree with you

If you are then you’ll know that we are also clients/ customers so trying to create a design that 14-20 million will all like is almost impossible. You don’t need to be in the game to have an opinion on a design either. It’s like art, all subjective. Since we are the end customer surely it wouldn’t have been too hard to have 2 end product designs and post them to us (the paying customer) to let us vote instead of a committee of like minded fools who also don’t understand the values of tradition and trying to always push beyond their previous design rather than trying to understand what we, the paying customer, really want.

you can be the best designer in the world but if you don’t understand what your customer really wants you’re worse than some of the people who post their own concepts online.

Nike are continually trying to be edgy which for a lot of us doesn’t work or we’d rather they dial it back a bit.

Neither of you are grasping the concept.
  • Nike's job is to please the stakeholder. The stakeholder is not you. You are the customer the stakeholder is selling to.
  • The stakeholder was happy with this design (Inter Corporate).
  • If you have issues with the design take it up with the stakeholder and not the Nike.
  • You are assuming this forum is the audience. Take a look at places like neutral places like reddit. They love all three of our jerseys (the weird ass one with yellow had mixed reviews but still lots of love). I am confident they did their market research and found that edgier designs are selling better than the classics (even though it may alienate life long fans, a business decision).
My personal opinion: I like both the jerseys. I, too, would love to see a return to our tradition and release a standard stripes kit. I also understand the desire to make a kit that will attract more sales from non-die hard inter fans who want something cool. They're trying to grow the brand globally, this is probably a part of that effort.

My ideal kit selection would be a standard nerazzurri stripe situation for home, this exact away kit we have this year, and then an off-the-wall third kit. But I can't always have what I want, and neither can this forum.

p.s. the best designer in the world pleases the client, regardless of the customer. A good client wants the design to please the customer. Not all clients are good.
