Gonna give 2 thumbs up to Ricky for his effort and commitment off the ball on defense since the beginning of the season. A new player. And this game he was even more productive on the ball aswell which was a bonus. I can't hate on a guy who gives 150% and leaves his soul on the pitch, gotta admire that. Both Ricky and Palacio's work-ethic and stamina on the pitch is just remarkable and the true reason to our short success, cause this entire pressure game starts from the top.

I thought Juan had a near perfect game btw - was my MOTM.
Brilliant start to the league by him, didn't step a foot wrong throughout the game and was so imposing physically and won most of the balls sent his way with ease, while not doing anything crazy. You can see some signs of development with him, Campagnaro and Mazzari to thank, obviously. Still don't trust him in the long-run though, but I hope he feeds me crow.

Cuchu came back in time and gave a classic throwback Cuchu performance - brilliant pressure and covering, always in the right place at the right time, didn't linger or try too much on the ball and focused on defense where he shut Pirlo down pressuring higher up, but also returned to his position to cover for everyone else and be a rock in the defensive midfield.

Taider was pretty solid. Like the look of him considering his age - and now with Mazzari on board, hoping for improvement and player development from within isn't a funny word anymore. Very active, jack of all trades and master of none midfielder - I'd look for his defensive ability and authority on the pitch to grow for him to really shine, hopefully we'll see him improve with time aswell and grow into it more.

Campagnaro is the best CB in the league probably atm.

Mazzari is a god.

Overall I enjoyed the game. We stood as equals and made a pretty big statement with this game I think, to others and to ourselves.
The offense is lacking, but I can accept that cause Ricky's and Palacio's high pressure from the CF and SS positions is the key to our success. I would not screw with that atm and keep it rolling, relying on correct in-game subs to change games if needed.

Eventually maybe Ricky shifted to the midfield and Icardi to the CF, but I'm not ready to trust Ricky with being on the ball as much, so far away from goal. It was a recipe for disaster throughout his stay here - the SS position is clearly the one for him - and he clearly needs to stay in the lineup with the effort and pressure he's applying for 90 minutes.

How you missed out Hugo Boss name is amazingly unacceptable.

notice how juve commentator did not have anyone to celebrate the goal.. scums.

Haha you know Campagnaro's great performances are a given so no need to mention what's obvious :P

Now that we can stop thanking each other over the post-game euphoria, lets be a bit more realistic.

The good:

- Mazzarri's done some great work making his players work as a unit. Unlike under Strama, there is a semblance of a system.
- Cambiasso proves he can still be effective if set up properly.
- Taïder. Once he settled (which admittedly took a while) he was impressive.
- Campagnaro & Alvarez. My joint MOTM.

The bad:

- Jonathan. He was largely to blame for the goal and was practically useless against a team that isn't Hellas Verona. Don't get me wrong, I think his improvement is more or less permanent and he won't revert to the Jonathan who couldn't walk without making an ass of himself. Now instead of making more pathetically unfunny jokes about Jonathan being some kind of god, maybe some of you can see what has actually happened: he's found the confidence and form to realize his ability as a decent player, but ultimately remains, just a decent player.
- the fact that we completely lost focus after scoring. I'm glad Mazzarri mentioned this too because this was the main negative aspect of the match. I seriously still cannot get my head around that shit. It's like the very second we scored, everyone stopped playing. Even Alvarez almost ruined his awesome interception and assist a minute earlier by standing idly in the box like a chump while Asamoah somehow got the ball to Vidal. Even after they scored and threatened to score another, the teams response wasn't "o shit, we just gave away our extremely hard-earned and deserved lead" or "fuck we need to wake up because they might win this", the response was "what? we're still playing?" This is damn near unforgivable.

The ugly:

- Guarin. Seriously, what can I even say about this sorry bastard that people don't already know? The pathetic bastard has such little awareness, such a stubborn nature on the pitch. There were a few good passes here and there. There was one great tackle where he stole the ball and made a great forward run. But every other second he was on the pitch was a disgrace. His starting spot should be taken by Taïder. From what I've seen so far, Kovacic, Cambiasso, Taïder sounds much better than any variation involving Guarin.

this i what i like best. now i can sit back and relax and enjoy games. i'd like us to be world beaters ofc, but as a fan i am content as long as we have a visible system of play and aren't complete morons. i don't even want to remember our "system" under strama. that's the stuff of nightmares :yao2:

If you stick to a system, even players with almost 0 IQ, become good.

Look at Dortmund, there is a reason all of their players have such a hard time adjusting to new environments. The reality is they are a lot shittier and one dimensional than they appear. Sahin was struggling at RM & Liverpool, Kagawa at Utd, and Lewandowski can't even score against San Marino with Poland. But Klopp has set up a system, where all players know exactly what to do, how to do it, and when to do it.

If you have a system, and all the players know their movements, responsibilities, etc... then you put less and less strain on their i.q. and vision, and the hardest of plays simply become monotonous robotic tasks.

Point being, that if we were competitive against the best team in the league, we sure have every right to dream of CL places.

I agree, but Pereira lost every chance he got. Belfodil and of course Mauro deserve as many chances they can get from WM.
