Depends which issue we're talking about, really.

I think the CBs are reasonably fine. Might need a new player (Vidic) in here or there, but overall, I'm quite happy with our defense. When they are organised, I dont worry too much anymore about a brain fart.

What doesnt help, though, is our attacking. We attack with like 3 players. That means that when we inevitably turn the ball over, we only have 3 players to 'defend at the front' with. Mourinho is a huge fan of strikers who work hard defensively for a reason. Keep them under pressure. The other team pretty much has the free reign of midfield, and they can distribute the ball how they want without any pressure. This means they tear our shape as they please, and we end up very exposed as they pass it around a few times and slowly destroy our midfield's shape. Thats how you end up with people like Nagatomo in CM, Kovacic at LB, etc.

If we commit more numbers offensively, then instead of (say) 7v3 on the turnover, you might have 7v4, 7v5. It means that its not so trivial for them just to pass the ball around, and they cant just do damage to us as they please.

I also notice we have width issues at times. Ignoring the fact that some of our fullbacks cant defend to save their lives, our full backs have a nasty habit of drifting quite central when defending, I've seen. You end up leaving massive gaps on the wings, which is why we get quite a lot of attacking play down our wings. That, and because we're playing CBs who are used to 2 at the back, we end up with other teams attacking the space between the wing back and the 'centre' back - who sometimes feels inclined to move more central, so you end up with quite a big gap there too.

tl;dr

Too much space for them to build until they've distorted our shape, and then we leave way too many gaps defensively anyway.

Anyone defending Mazzarri not starting JZ in his final home game should be banned on the spot.

Man sucks, but I'm not gonna be able to watch this game...maybe it's for the better cause we play so badly, but it sucks not to see the last home game of Zanetti. I would have cried for sure. Thinking about it I've only missed 2 or 3 games this season and then of all the games I miss this one.

I think many of you here agree, when I say this is probably the most important game of the season.

yes it is

1.Zanetti
2. Europa league, a draw would be ok. Win would be perfect and we win against Chievo too then we can get the 4.place (Only if Fiorentina draw or loose both games, vs Livorno and Torino)
3.It will be interessting if we loose too. Stays Mazzarri?

we made a big fuss about JZ, we forget that this is also the last home game for Samuel and Milito too and perhaps Cuchu..

I would rather see 4 of them play together for the last time than qualifying for Europa League.

Results more important than Zanetti, I believe Mazzarri will make the right choice.

Zanetti can always come back to play a charity match or something if you guys misses him.

Thankfully, I'll be able to watch a game live for once. Considering it's the end of an era for several Inter legends, I hope we get the win.

I really want Zanetti to start. I care more about his farewell than getting Europa League (especially if no Europa League means no Mazzari)

Besides, if Mazzari uses the excuse that Jonathan does more offensively, I call bullshit. Not because Zanetti is better offensively but the fact that the guy was happy with a drew against Napoli and AC Milan. He did not want to win either of these games, and I don't believe he'll go for the win here either. If he really wants to do that, ditch the 3 man defence.

The only reason I support Mazzarri for not starting JZ is to see WM won't be here next match...

Well, Cambiasso is suspended and Samuel will start, but I bet we will see JZ and Milito get appearances, even if only for a few min. This assumes, of course, that the sub's are available and are not completely tactically inappropriate. Shouldn't be too hard for WM make it work, though. I think he makes it happen. He is stubborn and focused on results, but not heartless.

On the other hand, this is arguably the most important match not the season, and 3 points are vital. Hopefully it all works out.
