I think if we wonna take positives from yesterday game if we approach serie a games like we did yesterday we will run away with the scudetto.
Still thinks we are level above serie a teams and it showed yesterday.
I am not gonna even say lack of depth is the problem vs liverpool
Imagine barella correa and gosens were available yesterday wooops

I love the smell of fresh napalm in the morning.

The only thing we showed yesterday is that we cán compete with clubs like Liverpool. We dominated them with good football, not only by long balls which is easy to do but with great build up from the back. Is this enough? Not by far but we all knew that in terms of pure quality (not only in the starting 11 but especially on the bench) we are far behind the top teams. But if we scored one of the many chances yesterday we would be 2-0 up and it would be a amazing result. Firmino scored an amazing goal and the second goal was pure shit. So I don't go with the negative flow.

I'm not happy about the result either but we shouldn't forget the problems we have at the club. I can accept the result because we simple miss quality and depth in our team and when you face a team like Liverpool you are f*cked. I mean just look at the subs they can make and the subs we made. It's if our players do a different sport.

Let's be a little bit positive about yesterday and don't just stare at the result. The way the Liverpool players yelled to each other yesterday showed me that it was not the choice of Liverpool to be sitting so deep in the second half but the merit of Inter. If we only had a striker who can score goals more naturally we would have won the game. The result doesn't tell everything most of the time.

And of course I want to make a special mention for my boy Skriniar, what a f*ckin beast!

to be honest, we have good game even better than most people here expected. i personally believe before the match that we can give Liverpool some troubles. the lads just did that. we manage to shut down most their attack in the first half. we are quite sound defensively until their first goal. probably a lapse of concentration causes it. during first 15 minutes in the 2nd half we keep the game under our control. we increase the tempo and show significant progress. we actually produce some nice moment that should lead to goal scoring chances. too bad our decisions in final third are really poor. no decisive passings or correct movements or doing direct shoot outside of the penalty box. it would be stupid not to acknowledge this fact.

i'm happy that we dont overestimate Liverpool and underestimate ourselves. hopefully next leg we can be better.

We lost 2-0 at home and we'll lose probably like that away from home as well. 4-0 on aggregate isnt 'competing with'. It's biding your time to get picked apart.

We were outclassed. We did really well, and there's nothing to be 100% humiliated about if you're a realist and appreciate the gulf in quality between us and Liverpool, but if you think we're on a par with Liverpool or that Serie A is on a par with the Premiership, then you shouldn't be anywhere near proud of last night's performance.

Winning a 100m sprint over the first 50m then losing over the second 50m still means you lost. History only records the winners, there's no * Inter didnt get as fucked as people expected footnote.

18/19 - the season Liverpool raised the CL cup:
Napoli - Liverpool 1:0
Liverpool - Napoli 1:0

19/20:
Napoli - Liverpool 2:0
Liverpool - Napoli 1:1

Atletico Madrid - Liverpool 1:0
Liverpool - Atletico Madrid 2:3

Forget about squad depth and all that, Atletico managed beating them with Morata and Diego Costa. I am not even talking about Napoli's squad although the matches were in the group stages, but nevertheless...

We are mentally weak! If only Suning could keep Conte, Lukaku and Hakimi for 1 more season, probably players could have been able to cement their characters.

This mentally weak stuff is bullshit man. I mean I'm not disputing we have mentality issues, but if the other players are faster, more talented, better with the ball, mentality is a long way down the list.

We've been consistently outclassed byntop sides in the last few seasons - that's a reflection of the massive gulf on quality between us and them. We are a CL group stage side, no more. Inter are not european elite, and for me there is only one player (right now, not on potential) I would play if I was a latter stage CL contender - Skriniar.

man we conceded these 2 goals from setpieces... neither liverpool nor bbilan scored their goals catching us off guard with defenders being late to recover.

You think SDV forgot how to defend? It's pure mentality issue, a discipline issue. Last two seasons they were driven extrinsically thanks to Conte's strict management.

I want to dedicate a post to credit Van Dijk for his masterful performance. He is without a doubt the best defender right now and what a complete defender he is. He thwarted our attack after attack without breaking sweat. And although he is a beast in physicality, he rarely uses it and he relies on his game sense and leadership to defend. No wonder he was bought for 84.5 million and he won UEFA player of the year award in 2019. As long as we have 36 years old Dzeko and out-of-form Lautaro, we won't ever breach Liverpool's defence.

Great post. There was also a particular moment when Lautaro was 1v1 in front of him and immediately shut down any idea of even trying to go over him. He is a rare modern defender to have that Nesta-esque approach where positioning and reading the game is king and if you have to resort to physicality it means you already made a mistake.

That being said, I wouldn't give our Skriniar for ten VVDs despite him being possibly the best in the game at the moment.

:lol: had to laugh, not even sorry
and I laughed at your posts in the morning too. Found that Conte's interview where he doesn't even talk about Inter-Liverpool you managed putting it like he doesn't stand Inzaghi's "ability to give battle" against Liverpool. What a clown really

Woke up this morning. First thing on my mind was the luxury of subs Klopp could pick from. He could bring on the likes of Firmino, Luis Diaz and Henderson. The best player on our bench was Alexis Sanchez.

Yeah I get what you’re saying but I still feel like we do have a mentality issue. We played a really average Real Madrid side 4 times over the past 2 years and lost all 4 games, Barcelona’s B team beat us. I think we give these teams way too much respect. A simple example is Salzburg against Bayern yesterday. On paper it’s a complete mismatch but Salzburg poured their heart out and fought and believed to get a result.

Really bitter way to lose but we did WAY better than what I was expecting.

Watched the game with my Liverpool fan friends and they were impressed, used the words smash and grab a few times. The press here is also relatively praising of our performance and citing Liverpool's experience and depth as the deciding factor in the tie.

Of course we'll be getting slaughtered in the Italian papers.

Liverpool subs bought for:
Keita = 60 mil €
Diaz = 45 mil €
Firmino = 40 mil €

Inter subs bought for:
Gagliardinho = 20 mil €
Darmian = 3 mil €

Liverpool market value 889 mil € - Inter market value 550 mil €
We did good while we had strength, inevitably we fell.

We do, but it's one of a number of issues rather than the key one.

There's a gulf in quality, experience, talent, mentality, etc.

It's disappointing to see our players say shit on their socials etc that they are proud of how they played last night. You lost fucking 2-0, at home. Yes we played well in parts, but what do we have to show for it? Honestly feels like this team is content with dominating for 70 minutes then going to sleep.

What could they do? They played against superior opponent in every aspect of game. And they gave a good fight. They should be proud. Didnt lose to Barca B team or couldnt score against Shaktar in decisive game at home.
