I'm probably gonna bet against Inter on both games, tbh. I don't expect anything from us and neither do the bookies

To make it a 1-5 loss!

Looking forward to this game even though I think we will get smacked in every way possible.

According to GdS, Inzaghi will probably go for Vecino against Liverpool. Vecino and Liverpool's style of play is a recipe for disaster in defensive transition.

Holy smokes! No Barella, hopefully Bastoni and Vecino possibly starting. Nothing like making advancement in the CL just a tad more difficult. Still, Forza Inter!

I'm shocked anyone here has any hope. I've kind of mentally accepted that this one is finishing 6-0 on aggregate and moved on to focusing on the Scudetto.

Hope I'm proven wrong, of course.
Don't really understand the amount of negativity from a lot of Inter fans on here tbh. Ok, we battered Milan 1st half at Anfield, but we still went in at HT 1-2 down.
Surely things like that should give hope, I'm expecting a really difficult tie anyway

Main outlet for this general pessimism is the very tough schedule and even thinner roster, plus the lack of experience in CL knockout games.

This also feels like a potential final run for Liverpool's squad (major players have expiring contracts in 2023) so I expect the game of their lives for the rest of their CL campaign.

Fair comment, but you've got to have hope, or what's the point really?! I didn't think we'd beat Barca 4 nil, for instance, but I knew we could score 3 to tie it. As I say, I'm far from counting any Chickens anyway. We defend on the half way line, as you probably know, because of the high press. So teams will always get chances in behind us. The 2nd leg at Anfield is what gives me hope we can do it. Looking forward to the tie a lot

Yeah another thing is this.

We don't have Hakimi and Lukaku anymore so we're quite hilarious in direct counters. But we're more capable of building counter attacks, it's just not doable over 90 minutes, after 50-60 minutes our strikers will lose most of their gas.

If we had Barella, Correa and assuming Gosens doesn't require a settling period, him too, this place would look more optimistic. Now we don't even know if Bastoni can play, so aside from having an average player in the middle and no subs, we'll also have a big issue if we play without a starting center back.

You can't apply transitive properties to football. Just because Milan did decent against Liverpool doesn't mean we're equipped to, despite the fact we're more talented than Milan. Liverpool is a bad matchup for our tactics.

The kryptonite of a 3-5-2 is having pacey wingers who excel in the wide areas of the final third. They'll be matched up against slower CBs or defensively deficient wing backs. Addition, Liverpool will dominate possession and we don't have players good enough at dribbling or counterattacking to take advantage of moments when they lose possession. Milan, meanwhile, have guys like Leao, Kessie, and Hernandez who perform best in these situations.

What are we good at? We're good at holding possession, gradual build up play, and scoring from set pieces. If we had drawn a club like Atletico or United in the KO draw, I'd be licking my chops. Conversely, I would pick Milan to get routed by both clubs.

It's all matchup dependent. I'm not trying to paint some doom and gloom picture, of Liverpool being the best club in the world. They aren't. It wouldn't be some Greece 2004 miracle if we beat them. But it's going to be a harder path than the "STFU, we're winning" fanboys are making it out to be.

Not sure how reliable this reporter is, but according to him, he'll be available.
We managed that 4 nil v Barca without Salah and Firmino, mad things happen in football don't they. It's why we all love it, I've been really lucky to be there when mad things happen, like Istanbul CL final 05, for one. So I've learnt you've always got to hope, in my eyes anyway. It's not like Inter or any team top of Serie A are mugs is it!

It's a kind of coping mechanism with the potential elimination, and with our poor record in CL I understand the general pessimism among Inter fans.

However, I find any comment claiming we get hammered by Liverpool ridiculous and unrealistic. Our results against big teams was not very encouraging this season but we never got hammered by any team. Against Real Madrid we looked the better team despite losing both matches. In football anything is possible and small details could change the course of the game. Sometimes a certain team and players bring their A game and a certain team and players underperform. I expect us to go out against Liverpool, but I expect a close match. Not anything one sided, like several members cry about.

Fair enough, maybe you can't apply transitive properties to football? A bit simplistic maybe, but you 'are' a better side, as you agree. I get what you're saying regards style and personnel match up's though. I don't know, I've just been very surprised by the amount of pessimistic posts. As I've said, the way we press is risk and reward, if mid table PL teams can get in behind our high line, I'm sure Inter can. I'm expecting a very close tie anyway

Just play Gagliardini, at least he is better option than Vidal and Vecino.

If somehow Gagliardini recover his "super form" against Genoa teams, we won.

So the realistic people on this forum are losers? Yea right. We have zero chance. 0.
Realistic my ass. Let me stress something incase I was misunderstood. I don’t believe we are favorites in the tie nor do I believe that this Inter is stronger than Liverpool. I understand football and I recognize that there is a big gap in quality between the two sides. But that doesn’t mean that we don’t have quality. We have really good players and in the past there has been many upsets in football caused by teams with even lesser quality than inter and against teams with bigger quality than Liverpool. Because of this reason I have no reason not to believe that we can win and cause an upset. I’m certainly not going to fucking roll over and expect us to lose. What the fuck is the point of tuning into the game. Why be a fan if you don’t have the slightest belief that your team can win?

You think the thousands that go and support the team and sing their lungs out in the stadium and pay money for travel expenses don’t believe they can win? What’s even worse is your best case scenario is that we suffer a low scoring defeat.. not even a win. It’s honestly embarassing if I was a liverpool fan lurking here I’d probably be laughing my ass off at comments like yours and posting them on their forum.

You’re an Inter fan, a supporter. Even if theres a 1% chance of winning you always have to cling on it.. whether it’s highly unlikely to achieve it or not you should always believe that you can.

I’ve spent 6 years between 2012 and 2018 watching 38 games of Schelottos and Kuzmanovic and Guarin play for inter believing every year that we can make the champions league even though the trash I see every matchday showed me that its unlikely. If that wasn’t the case then might as well take a hiatus from the team and come back when we’re winning again.

Even now I believe that theres every chance we can win the champions league. If porto did it why can’t we? If chelsea did it in 2012 why can’t we? Hell even in 2010 we were clear underdogs against chelsea, bayern and a barcelona that win 6 trophies the last year with prime xavi, iniesta, busquets, messi, alves etc.. we still won.

If anyone doesn’t actually believe in winning their much better off not watching the tie if its such a waste of time.

Vidal should start, he has the experience. I will be really disappointed with Inzaghi if he chooses Vecino over him. Gags should be 2nd in the pecking order. Vecino should start packing his bags, can't wait for the day he leaves
