The Critiques of British media are absurd. Can you show me a country where the mainstream media is not full of liars and charlatans ? They are the same and they are EVERYWHERE !

It's fascinating how the UK football media who thinks xG is some sort of holy grail number hasn't paid much attention to the stat for this game.

0.46-0.50 for Inter vs 1.23 (also saw 1.45 somewhere) for Liverpool and both Liverpool goals came from 0.08 (ie 8% scoring chance) situations and their number is exaggerated due to two misses they had inside the box, which just shows how absurd that is. Mane's attempt was almost like 0.50 (or 50%) itself because the stupid metric assumes it's an uninterrupted shot inside the box and not a difficult acrobatic attempt under pressure and Hakan's shot was given something like less than 15% chance despite being clear to strike...

Usually this is a big talking point by UK pundits and fans but it has been surprisingly played down and they turned their focus to "zomg 0 shots on target by Inter". But they hate to use their own tools to disprove themselves, they only use those when they want to make an absurd statement.

This makes me feel really proud of CBC weirdly. I almost feel like they just state things like "A cat climbed on the tree." without saying how reckless the cat is, or or brave she is, it is a black cat so the recuse took a lot longer than our normal white cat... you know.

Kinda boring you know..

Except the CBC are never that objective or truthful, sure

The more people tell the same lie the bigger the lie is. Tell me a country with that many football supporters.

Exactly.

And British media are nothing compared to Croatian media.

But hey, most people knows English so it's easier to blame them than media in other countries.

mancini is and
The thing noted on this match :

Perisic better than TAA, who credited by some pundits the best right back in the world
Calhanoglu is world class midfielder, worth more than 50m, we get him free
Liverpool subs destroy us, just like when Real destroy us with Rodrygo, Firmino and Rodrygo, same story
Our bench not worthy top club like RM, PSG, City, or Liverpool, cause we broke

We need replace our deadwood with better players next season, i hope Marotta can do some magic .
I'm not sure how accurate this is, but Inter have spent money if you believe this article. It's stating the obvious I know, but it's how good your recruitment is, not always how much you've spent. Look at how much Man Utd and Everton have wasted in the article. I realise it's a year out of date, so no Lukaku fee etc, but it seems your owners are willing to spend 'in general'. We seem to get the majority of transfers right under Michael Edwards, but wasted hundreds of millions in the past.

I seen that also. Our recruitment was awful when Suning first arrived in 2016. They put their trust in the guy who brought tevez and mascherano to West ham, kia. We've made some big mistakes but it's got better since marotta arrived, also helps we aren't changing manager every 6 months since he arrived too.

My takeaway from this game is still that we can compete with the big teams off the world, we showed how good we were and kept the pace. Anything is possible and I'm excited for the Anfield game.

Yeah although it was a bit like watching inter vs an in-form Juric Verona (and we’re Verona).

I honestly thought it was a great game off football all around for any fan watching, especially neutrals.
I agree with you. A lot of epl pundits seeming to see it as a bit of snooze.

I think some of that are the smugness goggles obscuring the fact they were in real trouble for like 30-40 minutes of this game.

In style it was perhaps more like inter vs atalanta 😃

But when have we shown that we cannot compete with the big teams of this world? We said the same thing in Spalletti's time when we entered the UCL.After the Barca away game and the home draw and the ties against Spurs we said the same thing. The coach, the players and us fans all said this and we said we were inexperienced at this stage.

Then we once again said the same thing in Conte's 1st season when we played so well at Camp Nou and against BVB.We then went to the final of the EL and again it was the same. Not once did any big team thrash us so we always showed we can compete with them and go toe to toe with em.Then we lost or found a way to lose.

I keep hearing this all the time and i do not understand why we are expected to not compete or keep the pace.We won the league in Italy. We should be doing everything in our power to win these games and not just come up with "keeping the pace or being competitive".I could understand this in Spalletti's season because we had not played in the UCL for 7 years or so.Now we've played UCL footie continuously for 4 seasons and made an EL final and yet our coach, players and fans keep using this metric.Like when does it stop?Like this is your 25th UCL game if you've been here since 2019 which so many of our starters have been. Then you add the EL games. And they are all internationals for their countries. How long does this metric need to be used?

It feels like this is our ceiling.Oh we went toe to toe with em!Hey great. But its a knockout round and you should be aiming to win the tie and there is no need to let a 0-1 turn into a 0-2 come now.Stay alive in the tie and try and progress and don't just be happy to compete. This is just so frustrating for me and i heard our players say the same too [what else can they say and sure i should not pay much attention to it] but then they said exactly the same thing in 2019. This post ain't just directed at you bro just that i am tired and frustrated seeing this soft ass mentality and this ceiling that we refuse to rise above!

I could have wrote this my brother, I totally agree with you. I don't feel it is our ceiling at all and I knew we would compete with Liverpool, Real Madrid when played them etc.. but I get shit on aggressively quite often for being optimistic (to them) even though I find it realistic. So the past month or so I do not post as myself but an alter to appease the fellow members of the forums, they literally take it so serious when I think we will win by more than 2-0 and make shit posts if a result doesn't go our way like my optimism (to them) wasn't warranted but the same people get on their knees when they do come off but don't acknowledge there wrongs.

this just reminsd me of the liverpool & united games in 07/08 and 08/09, where we thought we didnt look too bad and could grow. We couldnt. Took the majority of the team being stripped out by Mourinho to win the treble.

Our players are decent on a Serie A level, but they're at least one cut behind anything more competitive. There's a reason why we've consistently failed in our biggest games in the last three, four seasons.

Don’t disagree about the 08/09 United comparison but we’re about to turn over a lot of players in the next 2 years. It will depend if we make the rights moves what our trajectory will be. It wasn’t like 09/10 was a complete overhaul. Just exchanging pieces which made us way more effective in Europe. We will likely have just as many new players next season or definitely by the year after that.

??

Between 09 and 09/10, we swapped like 6 of our starters. Over his two seasons, IIRC, Mourinho offloaded something like 18 players from the first team

09/10 was when we got: Motta, Milito, Eto'o, Lucio, Sneijder, Pandev. That's pretty extensive tbh

I seriously don't know what to make of this --‘fuck Inter were good there’
‘fuck Inter, we're good there!’
‘fuck!! Inter?! we're good there!’
‘fuck, Inter were good there?’
‘fuck! Inter were good there!’

I just wishfully choose the last one.
The last one 😂

I’m not sure on the rules as it’s been so long since a UCL knockout tie, do we open a new thread or carry on here?

Either way I can see enthusiasm is high for Tuesday
