We have enough to build up patiently and break down the likes of Monza. Certainly more than we elected to utilize yesterday.

Only because Monza isn’t an uber defensive team and actually like to attack with more then two players.
We might lack a KDB but our midfielders aren't exactly unskilled workhorses either. All of them can take a shot or make a pass if the right space is created. With four mobile forwards, you've got a lot of potential there. But that's why Mkhitaryan is so integral to the squad and why I wanted at least one of Samardzic or Sensi in the squad. Partly why I was against selling Broz too.

But they aren’t the hyper skilled technical, dribblers either. As you kinda also admit.

Most players today can make a decent pass, as all players are schooled this way, as this is required by modern football philosophy. You rarely see even defenders who can’t make a decent pass especially among the younger players.

Ours just need more space, more time then say the better ones. Because ours are modern versatile players that can do many things but also have limitations on the technical front, that live also on physics, stamina and mobility.
So numbers and runs become important, we need more stations we can pass the ball too, creating outnumbered situations and pulling the chains and opposite players apart, this always mean you risk dangerous counter attacks if they snatch up a pass. We need to create enough space for the technical level our players are on.

It's more a matter of discipline, game-management and maturity than a lack of skilled players. The positives of Inzaghi's "freedom to express" tactics are that we get some very nice interplay between players. One of the downsides is that people get carried away and start playing too fast and loose.

But even then it don’t change our need too pull defensive compact chains apart to create enough space for our players.

Inzaghi plays like this because he knows full well out players need more space to make the pass, to run etc. we don’t work in incredibly tight spaces

You realize we lost and drew our two games against Monza last season right.
We are supposed to beat Monza, and we did, whose to say we wouldnt have won by a bigger margin had we played frattesi and aslani

As long as we are raking these kind of xG numbers (to ourselves and opponent), we should be fine.

It wasn't a perfect match by any means, but we never really had some extended worrying times in the match. Were there maybe 1 or 2 dangerous plays for Monza? Our attacking was the typical Meazza Inter. We gonna score eventually anyway. Inevitability.

Arna had an amazing debut lol he kinda shamed all the others… I guess he will start the next game.
That would be so wrong.

Would love to see Fratessi start the next one, but I think Inzaghi goes with the same lineup (possibly Acerbi in for De Vrij). I don't think he should start Arnautovic after one match. I think he should go with Lautaro-Thuram as we don't have any midweek matches until after international break.

To be fair though, SDV doesn’t deserve to be dropped either… that was his most assured performance in quite some time.

Too early to judge. We'll se how we are good after first away tough opponent. Remember Lazio game last season?
Even Cagliari next game away is a good test. I'm not worried about matches at Meazza. Interested how we will handle Sardinian cunts in hostile environment.

Been off for a while, so I didn't even watch any pre-season friendlies but however the match vs Monza was a good display compared to what has been said in the pre-season campaign. We looked dominant although our finishing sucked like usual. And it's not only an attacking department issue but also midfielders and our flanks tend to be quite wasteful, and I'm talking about these good opportunities.

Monza is quite a solid team but we were always there, defending properly, shutting them down in different areas and also creating chances. Don't wanna go into details but since it was Thuram's debut, I would like to point out that dude has to work on his agility and adapt to Italian football. It's clear that he has a great footballing ability but looked way too clumsy for me. Could it be that it's only first match and some players need a longer time to adapt their physical condition to the official matches (because there is a huge difference between these ones and friendlies), but I feel like he looked kinda careless at times. This isn't being harsh by any means, just want the best out of him since he's capable of it.

And lastly, I was pretty annoyed by Dimarco at times. He doesn plenty of good things but lately he's been a kind of selfish in quite a few occasions. Our players need to realize that we can't waste good chances and get away with it because we will get punished against real competitive opponents. Chances must be taken, no matter what.

Opener of the season is always tricky so it could go both ways, so it was to start with a win.

Dimarco shooting so much reminds me that sometimes the manager will give instructions that fullbacks or wingbacks shooting outside the 16 yard box to surprise a gk is allowed and encouraged

It's just that if Dimarco layed that one ball to Thuram, many different things could happen and sadly Dimarco didn't. Some strikers need to get involved to get into the groove and sadly Thuram barely had a proper chance the whole game. Heck, the whole summer at Inter.

They should feed him a ball to a position sooner or later, to see if he has the confidence to shoot or if he can find a player in the box to finish the chance. Sadly that didn't happen and now his "drought" is officially starting in the mind of certain fans and media, which is so unfair.
