- Wolfsburg 3-1 Inter, partido de ida por los octavos de final de la Europa League, 3/12/2015;
- Inter 1-1 Barcelona, fase de grupos de la Champions League, 11/6/2018;
- Slavia Praga 1-3 Inter, fase de grupos de la Champions League, 27/11/2019.

Dos veces se han cruzado los caminos entre el Shakhtar Donetsk y Marciniak, ambos en 2015/2016:
- Shakhtar Donetsk 2-2 Rapid Vienna, partidos preliminares de la Champions League, 25/8/2015;
- Shakhtar Donetsk 2-2 Sevilla, partido de ida de semifinales de la Europa League, 28/4/2016

The money involved in CL are just a lot higher than EL. EL is pursued to be won to lift a respectable trophy and make the first pot. This is our main motive.

So an estimation of 4 goals in this game sounds about right.

40 millions for winning it
For comparison juve got 40 millions more than inter qualifying from the groupstage and crashed

no way we get 40 mil for winning the europa league lol

i think its like 5 mil on top of the prize money we've had to date. Dont know what our sponsorship contracts would give us.

yeah, we win the EL to get into pot 1 and not get knocked out in the group stage again

We've guaranteed 2.4m for reaching semifinals. 4.5m€ for reaching final and 8.5m€ for winning it. Of course all the TV pool money and what not are added for the whole season, but those come more from our participation to CL. Purely prize money wise, EL is really a poor man's competition.

And AFAIK it's that the losing semifinals gets 2.4m€, and the winning one gets 4.5m€. Not that winning one gets 2.4m€ + 4.5m€. And if you win the final, you just get 8.5m€, it's not added to anything (apart from prizes of victories and group stage stuff).

it probably includes sponsorship and gate receipts etc.

You can see the prize money here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_...or the 2019–20 season,each runner-up €500,000.

the butterfly effect from the EL final could be really interesting.

For example, there's talk of a Dybala/Pogba swap atm. Man Utd being in Pot 1 of the CL might make that a lot more realistic, as I'd bet you're odds on to qualify top of your group.

Similarly, if we win it, we've probably made 15-30mil we didnt 'expect' to make this season, between the EL and finishing 2nd. Between that and going into pot 1, we could take a gamble on making the knock outs and spend that money on amoortisation to help improve the squad further.

Regarding that United speculation, I don't actually think there's much difference between pot 1 and pot 2. United will be in either pots and if they are in pot 2, Inter/Shakhtar/Sevilla will be in pot 1, with Zenit. Also if Leipzig/Lyon wins CL, they are there. If PSG/Bayern wins, Porto goes there. If City wins, then the pot 1 can be considered clearly tougher in my books. If City don't win CL, they will be in pot 2 along with Barcelona, Atletico, Chelsea and possibly United.

Will there be any "big" teams in pot 3 or 4 that we could end up getting if we managed to get into pot 1 or 2?

Knowing our luck, I wouldn’t be surprised that’s exactly what’s gonna happen to us :lol:

This is one of them banana skin games. We need to very careful. We're living in strange times when RB Leipzig and Lyon are in the semis of the UCL.

I just remembered, Fonseca, current Roma coach was Shakhtar coach last year.
I wonder if he’s gonna pass some info and scouting reports about us, to his former club.

Unlikely.

And even if he does, who cares.
