Spezia aren’t very good and their away form is dire. If we don’t take 3 points off them, even without Barella and to a lesser degree, Dzeko, it’d be pretty embarrassing.

We have 2 critical fixtures after this one so it’d be nice to get ahead early and not have to expend too much energy here.

Knowing Simone, there's a big chance that Barella will still start and be expected to play 60 mins or so. If we're still behind, he might have to stay till the 80th minute or so which is extremely undesirable.

Vidal's form has been so-so since he came back from Chile. We actually need him to regain his form by playing from the start today. Vecino is a donkey and didn't he want to leave? I'd actually rather have Gagliardini from the start if that's a binary choice. No point to play someone who's on the verge of joining a rival club.
