As far as understand, they want from Inter do not overspend. Which is quite possible, as next summer Zang will sell mostly.
So if they sanction us does that mean that next summer we cant bring anyone new? I mean with Lukaku probably gone who is gonna replace him?

Satriano 😄
If we sell Skriniar for instance, for about 70mln, we can invest those money in new players. This is how I see the situation, I could be wrong though.

US financial expert Andrea Zanon believes that Inter’s value is currently limited by the amount of debt that they have, but that if their financial problems can be lessened there is huge potential for value in the Nerazzurri
Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the private equity specialist gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s potential value and the reason why they are not currently able to reach the €1 billion that Suning have put on them as an asking price in his view.

Inter have been persistently linked with a sale over the past year or so, although in all cases reports of interest or of talks have come to nothing whilst current owners Suning have always issued firm denials.

The current owners’ valuation has been reported as one of the key factors preventing a sale despite no lack of interest, and Zanon gave his thoughts on this.

“The financial difficulty which Inter find themselves in is well-known,” he said. “I was the first to talk about advanced negotiations in with the PIF in November. I believe that nothing has changed in this respect, but there are other interested parties.”

“I believe that Inter are negotiating with different funds,” he continued, “even here in the US. I believe that they’re also using American interest to continue the dialogue with Saudis.”

As for a valuation of Inter, Zanon said that “I’d say that the €1 billion that was being talked about last December is a figure that the Saudis may be willing to spend. ”

“However, there are rumors that the negotiations have stopped because the Gulf nation doesn’t want to go over €800 million,” he added.

“The price of Inter, today, after two years of Covid, would be lower than €1 billion because their debt problems are extremely serious.,” Zanon explained.

“On the other hand,” he continued, “Inter’s growth potential is extraordinary. However, the internal financial problems must be resolved, the losses must be stemmed.”

“I would say that Inter would be an excellent target,” Zanon said from an investment perspective, “one of the most interesting in Europe, but there’s a need for a lot of management work for the club to get back on track.”
Nothing new TBH

It's basic finance. This is why I feel no sympathy for the Zhangs and the financial mess they're in. It's not our fault they're valuing their asset at a price no one else on planet earth believes is reasonable.

They are also valuing Skriniar at a price no one else on earth is willing to pay, so at least they are consistent.

They can't really ban transfers but they could ban you registering new players for European competitions. Just like when we left Gagliardini and Joao Mario out of the list.
Exactly. Chelsea and Spezia most definitely couldn't be UEFA bans, since they had nothing to do with FFP. Actually checking, both cases were FIFA bans because of malpractice of signing underage players.

The circle will be complete when we extend Lord Dzeko's contract to replace Lukaku once again.

I THINK if I read this correctly, we've just been fined 26mil for non-FFP compliance? And Roma 35mil?

Ah, ok, so we've been fined 26mil total, but only 4m must be paid now, the rest is suspended depending on future performance.

So, we might as well pay all that 26m now.

Also 4 years of settlement agreement.

Unless we get taken over by oil I can’t see how we will be in the top 20 clubs by the end of the 4 years. This is seriously depressing

The settlement agreement is that club needs to be FFP-compliant by the end of it. Otherwise the bigger fine needs to be paid.

Most of the clubs the settlement agreement was 3 years, Inter and Roma negotiated it to 4 years. So we have longer time to get the FFP-compliancy. For that, we agreed the penalty of having squad restrictions in our UEFA list, ie. we can register only 23 players instead of 25. Apparently if we are not heading towards FFP-compliancy during the settlement agreement, there might be some "transfer restrictions" coming, ie. those talked earlier that we cannot add players to our annual UEFA list if they cost too much etc.

This is my understanding of this settlement agreement.

EDIT EDIT EDIT:

There's more! So reading the whole settlement agreement here, we will have these "transfer restrictions" already for 2 years. So they count from now on from our new A list that it needs to be in balance. If we want to add a player we've used 10m€, we need to sell a player for 10m€ from that list. So it was actually good we didn't sell any big player in this window and thus got our starting point for this with all our big players included. When we sell the big player after the season, next June, that is counted as profit in that "A list balance". So we can spend "freely" to insert players to the list then. Of course our owners probably restrict us more than this settlement agreement is this is not a big thing I guess.

It doesn't sound terrible tbh. We have four years time to get our shit together financially. We started this summer by not spending on mercato but actually making some money out of it.

Next summer, in June we probably agree to sell one big player who makes lot of money. I would not redeem Lukaku for another loan season anymore unless he plays a monster season. His salary is so huge.

I think this is doable but we need to lower our expectations of incoming signings (unless we of course sell equivalently). And the most important thing is the cost control ie. salary budget. Unfortunately it needs to go down.

Think Gallani is right to be fair.
EPL to have a brexit from Europe - with how they spent this summer for the signings they made….it’s baffling.

No team or league can spend that. Real Madrid and PSG spend it on quality not Antony and Fofana!

And I’m against the super league the teams are getting greedy, nothing wrong champions league allowing smaller teams to have a fairy tale run.

If Juve/Inter miss top 4 because of mediocrity so be it, the Lazio, Roma’s and Fiorentina’s of the world deserve to play like everyone else.

And if they do make the super league then cash needs to be equal otherwise what’s the point, be the same situation as now.

My mistake. Inter and Roma (and Mourinho and Mendes) CAN sign players but only if they sell players, slash wages before they do. No additional player costs for two years. Costs have to balance. A bit like situation Barca was in, but not as harsh with that 1:4 ratio.

He made a mistake. More details here
