Suning Pay Out €4,6 M In Bonuses To Inter

The first half on the season for Inter under Luciano Spalletti was better than most could of imagined. As a result of this, the sponsorship’s that Suning agreed, gave bonuses to the Nerazzurri for being within the Champions League qualification spots at the halfway stage. This is has been the target of Spalletti and co since the first day. The achievement of this aim, will see, approximately 3.5 million euros enter the coffers from corso Vittorio Emanuele II, plus just over another 1 million euros from Suning as a reward for the big match wins, which were vital for securing these bonuses but also because Suning promised 550,000 euros for each win against, Napoli, Juventus, Roma and Milan, of which Inter won two.

According to TuttoSport, the total bonus of 4.6 million euros is a blessing for Inter, who are struggling with Financial Fair Play. The big match bonuses are also valid for each second round, so the upcoming fixture against Roma is still of great importance, other than just three points. The 550,000 euros for each win from now will be totalled and awarded in June.

Furthermore, a prize of half a million euros will be awarded if the Primavera win a trophy. So the Sunday’s Super Cup Primavera at San Siro is one to watch, as the Giallorossi of De Rossi will take on Stefano Vecchi’s boys.

In fact, just over a year ago, Inter and Suning had closed an agreement on naming rights and sponsorship’s that were full of objective based bonuses, for a total of 66 million euros to be distributed over 4 years, since the contract was signed. Since then, 16 million euros have been awarded to Inter from China.

It should be noted that the agreement between the parties also included an initial signing bonus of 25 million euros, which despite being on the clubs financial statements, has not yet arrived from China. This is because, it was directly blocked by the government in Beijing, as part of their restrictions of foreign investment, as revealed a few months ago. This is money that Inter could of desperately used in this transfer market, in particular.

Additionally, if Inter finish third in the table come the end of the season, they will receive a further 3.5 million euros from China (8 million for finishing second and 10 million for winning the league). Also assuming the aim of qualifying for the Champions League is achieved, there will also be many other money injections from other sponsors which were added in recently agreed deals.

I read something interesting yesterday...idk who was it, that said Suning is using FFP as an excuse not to invest any money....idk how much truth there is to that, but it certainly interesting, seeing that this FFP shit always hangs around us...even after we allegedly cleared ourselves out of that mess this past summer, i thought!

Gabigol, Joao Mario and Dalbert deals look really horrible now. So much capital used to these investments with almost zero returns. JM has at least played for the club for about an year. Not so much for this year's success though. Other two have contributed almost nothing.

I really would only say that Gabigol is a horrible signing. Joao Mario has been average but is obviously a talented player. Dalbert so far hasn’t impressed but I’ll give him a little bit more time. Either way I can live with him being a flop because at least it was a decision made by the transfer people actually employed by the club, not some agent.

If perhaps we had the same transfer policy last year maybe we only have Dalbert as a flop thus far under Suning’s regime and not 3 players two of which no one wanted. Who know, no use crying over spilled milk or time and transfer windows we won’t get back I guess.

Honestly in all of this the people I feel sorry for are Spalletti and Sabatini. I wonder if they knew just exactly what they were stepping into when they accepted their roles in the Summer amongst all the hype about InterIsComing and our alleged impending spending spree. Now they’re at a club so financially strapped due to financial fair play and some crazy ass China regulations that nobody saw coming that they can’t even make a simple CB purchase during the winter window. Instead they’re probably going to have to cut the loan spell short on an 18 year old CB who has hardly tasted adult football, just so we can round out the squad numbers.

I know this is certainly not where I saw this going.

Chinese Government Restrictions Not A Problem For Suning & Inter

Il Sole 24 Ore journalist Marco Bellinazzo has tried to clarify Inter’s transfer market situation in his latest piece for Goal.com. He explains: “Inter’s problems will not be the restrictions set on Suning from China but more so their ability to balance the books. The limitations of the Chinese government don’t seem to be that much of a for Suning given their economic and political strength of the Zhang Jindong group. The things that have to be respected are more so the Financial Fair Play agreement signed by Erick Thohir which includes a monitoring period until the 2018-19 season. Inter needed to end the 2015-16 season with a deficit no more than €30 million and make it even by the end of June 2017. A target that they managed to achieve with the 2017 financial statements closed with a loss of €24 million from which however a number of “virtuous” expenses were deducted for the Financial Fair Play such as youth sector and Inter Campus.
Bellinazzo goes on to say: “revenues compared to 2016 actually increased by 33% thought to be around €320 million. They also managed net capital gains of €40 million from transfers and bonuses from playing in the Europa League group stages. This means that Inter’s net turnover has grown by around €60 million. However Suning cannot push the leverage of “internal” sponsorship contracts and revenue indefinitely as their failure to qualify for European football means no bonuses thus lower capital gains. This is why Suning has forced the management to reason in terms of economic self sufficiency to close the 2018 balanced accounts. Next year with prospect of Champions League football maybe you can think differently. The arrival of youngster Alesandro Bastoni from Atalanta goes hand in hand with this conservative perspective.”
